Totally agree! I woas even doubtful about buying from UK sites until I took the plunge with Fashion Specs Direct - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=4891629#post4891629
  • How much do high street opticians generally charge for making the final adjustments to glasses you've bought online? Who is the cheapest?

I would be very surprised if they would do it.
It is one of the many lies perpetuated by online spec retailers.
This sig has been left intentionally blank. ;)
  • You should all have a look at https://www.onestopglasses.co.uk
This is not my company but they have a good range of frames, the prices are good, the website is well done and I know who makes their specs does a good job.

When I first ordered from them I didn't realise they were in Pakistan but I was impressed with them so have ordered more since...why not at £15 a pair including postage?

'cos mine arrived all crumbled from Karachi - who do I send them back to ? I sent emails to the company and got garbage back plus a load of spam from Russia. I'm sticking to the UK as at least they need to be real companies and stand by their stuff.

I'm not sure I'd buy fromabroad. I was a very reluctant internet-shopper anyway, so one of the things I needed was someone to contact easily in case anthing went awry! https://www.fashionspecsdirect.co.uk gave me that assurance (at least, someone recommended it to me!).

I hear too many horror stories about buying from overseas, the US included. I'll stick to Blighty I think!

  • After reading some recommendations on here I just had to share my experience with Fashionspecsdirect. My experience of buying glasses online is limited to two companies, Glasses Direct and Goggles4u. I bought prescription sunglasses from Goggles4u last year but I needed them within a couple of weeks. I had to e-mail them a few times and they agreed to send them priority mail from India. They got them to me in time and they were fine but the quality was very poor in the finishing and although the lenses were fine to look through, they had imperfections around the edges. For about £15 I wasn't going to complain though! My wife bought prescription sunglasses from Glasses Direct last year and they arrived after about 3 weeks and were fine although quite a bit more expensive.

Well, I needed to replace my cheapy Goggles4u sunglasses and again I had left it late (I go on holiday in 2 weeks!) Last week I e-mailed Glasses Direct and Fashionspecsdirect to see if they could deliver within a 3 weeks. Glasses Direct said:

'If you order over the phone and explain that you are off on holiday, we will be able to put the glasses on an urgent request which may reach you within 3weeks. We do hope that glasses reach our customers within 10-14days but this does not always happen.'

    Fashionspecs direct replied:

'I can guarantee that we will ship your prescription sunglasses well within three weeks.
Normally, we ship within a few days - even sunglasses.'

So I took the plunge and ordered prescription sunglasses wioth Fashionspecsdirect late Tuesday. I couldn't beleive it when the glasses were posted through my letterbox first thing this morning! Now that's service! The Glasses are excellent - very good quality in fact. I'm extremely happy :j :j They included a covering letter in the package that ended with 'Enjoy your holiday' so they must have remembered me from my e-mail - nice touch. The glasses cost just £35 so if you want cheap glasses delivered with lightning speed, check them out.

BritishBeef - i couldn't agree more. That's pretty much the same treatment I had from them. Can't recommend highly enough!
