    Hi Julyanne,

goggles 4u missed off my antiglare coating, they claimed it is because my sph is + and my cyl is -, somethinmg they refer to as a complex prescription.

Selectspecs in my experience have been poor too. They took ages to send the glasses, missed my ar coating off, and smashed the frame putting replacement lenses in. They did return the smashed frame to me !!!!!! Talk to them on the phone and they dont seem to be the sharpest knife in the drawer. (it has happened in the past when i have posted about selectspecs that i get some stroppy/semi abusive posts from users with only 1 or 2 posts to their name. lets see if it happens this time!)

spex4less are a top top company. you can register for their email and they will give you the ar/mar/uv coating for free. they are proper opticians and are good if you need to phone with a query. (recommended)

just as good is justrimless.com. they too seem very professional and are good at answering questions. (also recommended)

In case your wondering yes i do have loads of specs, I like to swop the colour and shape depending on my mood or what im wearing.

    Hope this helps julyanne.

    Thanks Altarf and brinky!

I will heed your extremely helpful advice.

I too thought spex4less was the best in terms of reliability and quality. Only thing is they charge quite a lot more and have less choices for frames... :(
I'm a lady with quite a broad face, I like frames with wide frontlengths to slim my face down!

    Thanks again Altarf and brinky!
    THANKS!:happylove
  • Hi again julyanne,

spex4less have two high street shops. If you give them a call they might be able to do more. The website has hidden spections with memory metal specs etc so they might be able to do something more.

The guarantee is very good. you can return the specs if you dont like the colour even if they are manufacture perfectly.

  • Someone in a previous post mentioned that there is possibly a difference between anti-glare and anti-reflection. I've ordered a pair of glasses from goggle4u.com and they offer anti-glare as standard. Is it right that this is different from anti-reflection?

This post also mentioned that without anti-reflection one looks like a nerd wearing the glasses!

Has anyone ordered from goggles4u.com and noticed any reflective qualities to their glasses?

Also, does anyone have any idea how long glasses from goggles4u take to arrive? Their website says that they were shipped 3days ago, but as yet haven't arrived. Has anyone waited less than 10 days? I'm going away this weekend and I'm hoping they arrive by tomorrow morning!

    Thanks all

    Ian

    Ian a.k.a itgoodson,
The comment I made about looking like a nerd with reflective glasses, is just purely my personal opinion! I just think *I* look like a nerdy lady when I wear my old glasses from Specsavers which didn't have the AR coating on!

Holding a PhD means I try my hardest not to look too nerdy!

Still no contact from goggles4u.com regarding my glasses and I have still not recieved them.

Just noticed my credit card chargeback has gone through, so at least I've got my money back.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Orderd a pair of glasses from spexmaniacon line.
Cost 17.50 inc delivery, 1.6 thin lenses free, anti reflective lenses free
They were delivered within a week.
    A1 service and glasses.
  • There's lot of useful advise on this forum, so you may already know this:

I recently needed a pair of glasses and I found this website very useful:
    http://www.squidoo.com/glasses

They explained how to order on line and then they had links to all the online retailers. I also liked the poll they had where people could vote for their favourite online glasses retailer.
The site offered a recomendation based on their experience for best service and that was 'specs for less'. I ended up getting my glasses from them and I recieved very good glasses, very quickly and am very pleased

I hope this information may help someone.
