I think you mean £115 (correction £55 for thin, £125 for thinest they do) looking at spex4less prices - £15 will get you bottle bottoms again.
Cheers to 'purplepatch' - I'll have to forget about goggles4u my eyes are
-7'ish and no one else online seems to call anything less than 1.60, 'high index'.All the World is a Stage; and I'm going through a difficult one at the moment!0 -
I have just placed a order for some prescription sunglasses from https://www.optical4less.com, I have been undecided what to do and looked at most of the other sites and these seem the best as I want the thin lens as I'm really short sighted, they have been very helpful as I had a few queries about my order and replied back straightaway. I will let you know what they are like when I receive them.0

purplepatch wrote:rizla - what is your prescription? Just wondering whether it's worth doing the same with the pair I recently ordered from them as really like the frames but would prefer slightly thinner lenses.
My Prescription is
Sph = R + 5 - L + 4.25
Cyl = 1 & 1.75
Axis = 120 & 60.
Re the bottle bottoms (Stands Corrected) the chap at spex4less assured me that he will endeavour to do his best - for £15.00. The ones I have are the same thickness from middle to outside and he said that he can gradient them towards the outside so the edge (on rimless) will look better.
I will also order a normal frame as they will give me sunglasses for FREE.
I'm going to get my eyes tested again tomorrow so at least the vision will be better."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
Looking back at some of the threads I notice someone was un happy with the thickness of their lenses.
I also need quite a strong prescription but I went for "high index lenses" at https://www.glasses2you.co.uk.
These can be very expensive in the high street so I was quite pleased to get them so cheap. The glasses where great by the way and would have been only £15.00 without the high index. And they came back in 6 days!
Cheers!!!!0 -

Oh No I'm now seeing double!
Oh No I'm now seeing double!
But to be serious. I ended up ordering a pair of high index (1.74) from my opticians £300+, expecting at least good service. 2 weeks later and I've just rung them to find out where the hell they are. Only to be told they are lost in the post! Another 10 days for replacements (the lenses aren't stocked, but are ordered in from Germany).
I've ordered some bottle bottoms/hugo boss rimless frames from goggles4U today for £15.38 as a second pair - if they are really bad I'll just chuck 'em in a drawer for emergency only use. I'll post here exactly how thick they are when they arrive.
Update - Ordered on friday - 'Despatched' e-mail came Sunday - pretty good so far from goggles4u.
Update - Arrived last week 30th Nov - can't fault the frames. The lenses were as thick, as I was sort of expecting them to be (6mm at thickest part for a sphere of -6.75) but the finishing on the lenses is pretty rubbish - rough edges mainly.
Basically as good as I expected based purely on the price, but not as good as I expected given some of the comments on this thread. They are going into the back of the drawer, to be used when painting ceilings I think!All the World is a Stage; and I'm going through a difficult one at the moment!0 -
Just received my goggles4u.com spectacles.
Can't fault them - gonna order a spare pair and some prescription sunglasses and get my 15% off.

Just ordered a pair online with https://www.glassesdirect.co.uk for 17.50 inc P&P. I used the online trial service. It's where you upload a photo of your self and then try the glasses on. I was very impressed. I gotta say i was looking at a similar pair in specsavers for £99 so i'm well chuffed. Thanks every one.0
