    Re:- Measuring PD
Hold a ruler on your forehead
Get a friend to take your pic using a digital camera & load onto your pc
Zoom in large on screen, measure pupil distance on screen using a piece of paper, if necessary scroll to ruler without altering zoom, measure off the length of your paper against the ruler on your head

    Job done

Saves the problems of your eyes moving when measuring
  • On the goggles4u website there is a lenses option of 'Plastic CR39 with Sun Sensor/Transition Grey' - Is that another way of saying reactolite lenses ? The ones that go dark in the sun.

Also, what is the best method of payment. If I pay on my credit card am I open to a random exchange rate ? should I ring my credit card provider up first to see what charges there will be on a USD transaction ? (I have a HSBC card) or should I just open a paypal account ?

Also, any comments on who is offering the cheapist eye tests at the moment.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

For payment you can use their conversion rate on site and get billed in £ or use Nationwide Visa, as they don't charge fees for foreign exchange.

(Most Visas build in a charge of 1.75% or more, so make sure you take that into account if you're calculating what it'll cost)

Paypal is unlikely to be the cheapest option.

For £14 I couldn't be bothered to calculate and just used the Nationwide card...

just received my boss glasses from goggles and am very pleased, prescription was fine and they look to be well made.they took 10 days to arrive(from pakistan),great value for rimless glasses (£14).the nose bridge was a bit tight but being rimless i could alter them myself (with the handy enclosed tool)for a perfect fit.
thanks to the op,i will be ordering more and may try the transitional lenses which are availble for only $4 more on some styles.

Dave - I gave a link in my previous post #94. That's the way me and hubby did it and our specs seem fine.

    thanks found it now :)
  • Ordered my first pair. Faxed my prescription to them and recevied confirmation they'd received it later in the day.
The glasses seem very similar to an £80 pair I saw in Tescos, so hopefully they will suit me! £14, can't complain, so worth a risk.
  • DH just taken delivery of varifocals from goggles4U - seem well made - look good. He had never had varifocals before and understand from others they take some getting used to. But seem to be as ordered - thanks to OP for this one. Rimless varifocals delivered for £35!!!
