Sorry to ask but how's the health of the Mr Jones and Mrs Jones? its just they say it happens in three's. My advise get insurance and go straight down to the doctors for a health check.0

Oh Mr Jones and Mrs, I'm really very sorry to hear that. And I wish you the best with whatever comes next and whatever you decide. Good luck. Yes, that's not funny, that's serious and that's the rug being pulled out from under your feet. However, as other posters say, possibly the sale can still complete, that is if Mr Roberts' family can cope with this at this terrible time. Ok, I won't blather on except to say that I hope it works out for you. And thanks again for all your great writing. All the best, mc0

The clampetts came back at noon today all loved up and besotted with each other. They knocked to let us know they were back and they spotted the recorder bag on the hallway telephone unit (ironic as I am always moaning at Mrs J for rabbitting on the phone) which we forgot to replace back where we found it . I didnt say anything but Mrs C must have grabbed it on the way in as after she had gone it was also gone. They were sooo apologetic and feel awful and stupid (again) for forgetting to reorganise the removals. They are taking us out for a slap up meal as an apology and they have news to share with us. I would say she was a bit old for being pregnant so we wonder....
Absolutely brilliant!

feel a little better now. The foxy daughter came over last night and it looks as though probate may have to be granted before. However she has offered us a deal.
Because they are grieving at the moment, have to arrange the funeral and clear the house, completion will not happen Friday. However, they have said we can store our stuff in the double garage which is empty (had his car in it but the son has bagged it now) on Friday and she will, with the agreement of the family let us rent the property on the quiet for a token £300pm plus bills as we will not be able to do anything to the house until probate is granted and it is legally saleable. In addition in recognition of the housing market and to keep us as buyers, she has also offered to reduce (pending agreement with family) by £5,000 because we have been so good with the situation.
Seems like a good deal to us
Last night we had the pied piper of Rabbitsville over with Columbo for a meal. They asked if they could borrow the joy of sx book again (so blatent) so we located it and gave it to them. We told them about the house move and they have offered us the camper which we delclined as we will probably go and stay with friends. Can you imagine, we could be the new clampetts.0 -
Mr J assuming you have not had sight of the will yet I would advise against this 'good deal' if Pa Foxy has left all his worldly goods to the RSPCA then Miss Foxy has no deal to make. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

Speak to your solicitor. If the house was owned jointly then the surviving spouse is now sole owner and should be selling to you on the agreed completion date. Failing to do so means they are liable for all your costs caused by them failing to do so.
Your going to rent a property that you probably own!
Be compassionate, let them get packers in and leave their stuff in [STRIKE]their[/STRIKE] your garage.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. No mention was ever made of a spouse. One can assume the old gent was alone in the house.
If the old man (deceased) has left his worldly goods to charity, and you just happen to already living in it, then claim squatters rights. As most charities automatically sell-off donated property, you should be able to buy it for less as it has been taken-over by pesky squatters.Never Knowingly Understood.

I had a probate specialist tell me that once charities know they are in line for some dosh after a death - they become like "Rod Hull's Emu on Parky" as soon as they get hold of the Executor.....0
