While we are all enjoying this thread and having a good laugh, Mr Jones must also be having a good laugh at some of the replies he's been getting.
His writing style is great, entertaining and funny but the fact that people believe this story is equally as funny.
Well done Mr Jones you've made a lot of people smile.......
In which case we've all made each other giggle and generally had a good laugh all round... which has got to be better than moaning and sniping, right ;-)5:2 diet devotee, frugal recipe creator, pretty excellent cook, pretty terrible housewife.0 -
Firstly, if Mrs C Sen snuffs it, do you have a Bag for Life ready?
On a more serious vein, I would be aware that when we had our acquaintances living on our drive, a week before they moved out we had a letter from the council asking if people were living there, and their details so that they could sent them a Council Tax bill....0 -
Please excuse me if i've overlooked something, but I don't understand why you're moving at all if you are just going a couple of doors away. Can't you just stay where you are for now and make the best of what you have?0

I'd take the £8k drop, but insist on the camper being thrown-in as the deal-sealer. A VW T25 in good condition is worth £10-£12K advertised in a VW enthusiasts magazine.Never Knowingly Understood.

If this is true (I've got a friend in DP and I'm so tempted to send him on a drive) then, as previous posters very rightly pointed out: Do you want to live near them, bringing up all the carp they decide they don't like for the rest of forever? Any drop now may be simply stalling tactics or paving the way for subsequent drops.
Surely it's time to cut your losses? Get all their stuff out of your house, get them moved on, tell the police they don't live there, give the police the brother's no plate. Remember these people have been in your house while you weren't there. Change all your locks. Get your banks on super mega alert for fraudulent activity on your accounts, change all your online passwords. Check all you financial docs are where you left them. Throw away your toiletries. Get your neighbours watching the house and to call you if they see anyone go up your path if you're out.
Get the house back on the market immediately and a board up. See your vendor first and let him know what's going on.
Get a counter-claim for harrassment ready and run through this thread for when and wheres, see if you can get witnesses for everything - then if you get an injury claim you can respond in kind. No judge in the land would give them your money, surely?
And then when the house is back on rightmove post a link so we can all have a nose!
It has seemed for days as though they wouldn't exchange, todays events have confirmed that and now any further investment of time, money or kindness is just good money after bad. Still, I feel for you, this must be awful.
If it' fabricated, then it would be fairer to your followers to say so because some of us are genuinely concerned about your situation.Do you need it? Yep. Really? Yes! How have you managed for the last 28 years without it? Erm....

I doubt very much that the cost would be anywhere near to £8,000 unless it is a curved staircase with several bends or a very long straight stair.
My Mother in Law had a standard straight up the 13 stairs chair lift fitted in July last year at a cost of £1900:eek:. Sadly she died in November and therefore only used it for three months. Naturally the company were not interested in purchasing it back, and as there are a fair few for sale on eBay. I looked elsewhere to sell. I eventually found a company whose hand I snatched off when they bought it for £250. The companies make a fortune out of selling and installing them.To Dare is To Do:beer:0 -
