Ebay in widescreen

  • Right click my computer, go to properties>hardware>device manager>monitors> right click your monitor and select uninstall.

The problem here is that the driver for the monitor which tells your graphics cards which resolutions it can support is incorrect, which is why you do not see 1440x900 in the slider options.

Reboot and it will reinstall the drivers, hopefully from the default windows drivers as they seem to enable 1440x900 for you.

And no, don't set the refresh rate to 75hz, TFT monitors should ideally be run at 60hz which is the default. Refresh rates do not matter with TFT screens.

    Post back here...

I have a 20.1" widescreen tft and it runs at 1680x1050 native resolution. :)

Nope..... it's not in the list...

    It jumps from 1280 to 1600.....no 1440

does it say plug and play monitor though? Uninstall that and also uninstall the hans g drivers. Reboot then it should install the drivers, but select the option so that it checks the windows update site. Sometimes Microsoft has drivers for certain monitors.

I had a reply from NVIDIA this morning saying this:

How do I do the first bits?

    Sorry to be a numpty!

I have just looked at the release notes for the latest version of the Nvidia Forceware driver (91.47):

    http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/91.47/91.47_ForceWare_Release_notes.pdf

and it does not appear that 1440x900 is supported

  • mmm..I thought it was a ptetty standard resolution....

If that's the case, how do I get my ebay pictures looking right (which was the original issue) or are you sayong that the NVIDIA card doesn't support widescreen?

I'm not really sure what I'm saying!

Can you select 800x1280? This should give the right proportions (same ratio as 900 x 1440), but may not look very good as it is not the monitor's native resolution.

    Have you tried Powerstrip yet?

And actually 93.71 is the latest Forceware version (still no mention of 900 x 1440), but only seems to be accessible via the Nvidia archive.

Your info from Nvidia was missing in post #77!
