Hi saintly,
I dry fry mince, then add a chopped onion, garlic and mushrooms and cook until the meat is browned. Next, add chilli (freshly chopped or powder depending on what I have in), tin of chopped tomatoes, sliced peppers, beef stock cube, lots of black pepper and a glug of wine and some kidney beans. Let it simmer until the sauce is reduced a little and enjoy.
There are lots of recipes to choose from on this thread:

well my chilli is basic & not fancy but it all goes!!
2 x value chopped tomatoes
500g of mince (2 for £5 in Co-op!)
2 cloves of garlic
1 onion
1 oxo cube
teaspoon of tomato puree
small can of kidney beans
2 teaspoons of chilli powder.
Brown mince, add crumbled oxo cube, add chopped onions & sweat for 10 mins, add 2 tins of chopped toms & puree, add chilli powder, simmer for 45 mions then add the drained & rinsed kidney beans & simmer for further 15 mins. I then oil rice, drain & serve with loads of tortilla chips & save a portion or 2 for the next day with spuds. Incidentally I have chilli on the menu tonight!!0 -
If "can't cook at all" means that you are unsure how to brown mince, it means adding it to a pan and breaking it up until its all brown and not red! Best to use the back of a fork to break it down. (I also start by cutting mine up with scissors as I hate lumpy mince!)Lynzie Lou :dance:0

500g mince
Carton passata
Tin baked beans
Tin kidney beans
Teaspoon of Beef Bovril (or add a beef stock cube)
Tablespoon chilli powder
Bit of water to thin it out to desired consistency - the more water you add the more portions you'll get
Stir together in a big pot and then simmer for an hour - I do mine in the slow cooker.
This will serve 4 - 6 but it freezes well if you don't want to eat the same thing all week!Household: Laura + William-cat

500g mince
Onion
Garlic cloves
Tinned tomatoes (including juice)
Tomato puree
Chilli powder
Mixed Herbs
Beef Stock Cube (dissolved in a little boiling water)
Tinned Kidney Beans (drained and rinsed)
Salt to taste.
Basic instructions:
Chop an onion and crush some garlic and fry until onion is soft.
Break the mince up and add to the pan, and gently fry until brown, stirring it around and making sure it breaks up and doesn't stay in clumps.
Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 40 mins to 1 hour.
I also add chopped carrot, celery, mushroom, peppers (anything I have lying around, but not essential).
You can also add cumin powder and Worcestershire sauce for extra flavour.
If you don't have mixed herbs, just sprinkle in whatever you have.
I use 2 tins tomatoes as I like it tomato(ey) but you can work out what you prefer yourself. If you like lots of garlic, just add more of that etc. You can adapt to suit your taste.0 -

Just use that - its a different form of stock - jelly instead of a dry cube
Tomato puree will be in the store cupboard probably (or fridge?). Can be substituted with ketchup if you wish, but i would use puree if you can find it. It will be in a tube or glass jar, and called "tomato puree". It is very concentrated you see, whereas Ketchup is rubbishy sugarA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
