i generally use a morrisons own powder sachet which you mix with water, as i love the taste.

but if i don't have any, then i will fry an onion, brown the mince. add chopped tomatos and kidneys beans and a good spoonful of chilli powder ( depending on how hot we want it). it is very simple and taste really nice.

    Mine is similar too.

1 onion, garlic, 1 tbsp ground cumin, 1 tbsp chilli powder, tomato puree, tinned tomatoes, dried oregano, a little beef stock and a cube of dark chocolate and a large tin of kidney beans per 500g mince. Once cooked, when it it served on the plate I always sprinkle fresh chopped tomatoes and chopped red onion. Not sure how authentic mine is but it works for us.

Fry onion. Add garlic if we have any.
    Brown the mince.
Add tomatoe puree and tin of cheapest toms. Add flakes of chilli to required heat.
Add fresh chillies if I have any. Add chopped tomatoes if there are any looking sad in the fridge.
    Simmer.
    Add kidney beans. Simmer..
Add gravy granules if it hasn't thickened enough just before serving.
Can also add splash of red wine if there's a dreg around, sometimes add chopped peppers, or mushrooms (depending on state of fridge contents).

I add onions, kidney beans, jalapenos (if I have) and a pepper.

Spice wise it's - smoked paprika, hot chilli powder, cumin, coriander, dried chillis. 2 beef stock cubes, splash of red wine, loads of garlic.

Does chocolate make it taste better?

i believe chocolate (or coffee) enhances the flavour. Couldn't explain why though! :D:rotfl: i suppose in the same way that mustard enhances a cheesy flavour (i think....?) :o

    For my chilli

    1lb of minced steak
    two medium onions
    two diced carrots
    two sliced celery sticks
    a tin of chopped tomatoes
tin of kidney beans in chilli sauce (these seem softer than the ones without sauce)
    diced green pepper
    tomato puree
    minced garlic
    chilli powder
    sliced dried chillis
    chopped pickled chillis
    square of dark chocolate grated
    salt and pepper

Dry fry the mince and add the carrot, onion, green pepper and celery and cook until soft. Add the beans, tomato and herbs and spices and then simmer until all soft, thickened and melted down together.

Serve with steamed basmati rice and crusty bread.

I could just eat some now!

Try the Tesco chilli mix powder - only 25p I think to add to mince, red kidney beans and chopped tomato. Really nice with a good kick. Whatever's left is frozen and always tastes better second time. It actually tastes better than adding own spices or the local tex mex! Was behind a work colleague in a supermarket queue a few weeks back with a Schwartz mix and she said the same - that she prefers Mr T's to both that and anything she does or has tasted elsewhere so it's not just me!
