make as per spaghetti bolognase but omit the basil and oregarno.

mince, onion, tin chopped tom's and a tin of kidney beans in chilli sauce (tesco own brand) works great every time and very tasty and filling

Thanks for the quick reply redballoon.

The kidney beans are already in a chilli sauce? I'll look out for those next time I go to the larger tescos.

    Thanks lynz

Is that the plain smooth passata in a carton?

How much mince would you use with those ingredients - a pound or so?

yes look for the ones in the chilli sauce (tesco's own but not the value kind) . it's not mega powerful but you could always spice it up with some chilli powder if you wanted.
    it's very tasty tho!

Try the Tesco vege mince. You wouldn't know the difference

  • We usually make spag bol and then chilli from that the second day.. sooooo.... bear with me...

First catch your cow and mis en piece...

    1 large pack steak mince
    2 medium onionsvfairly finely chopped
4 /5 plump garlic cloves finely chopped
    2 tins value tomatoes
    red wine
1 red or orange bell pepper chopped
    large handful mushrooms sliced
    good pinch oregano
    salt and pepper
    olive oil

dry fry the steak mince in two batches in a n/s frying pan. at the same time sauté the onion in a large casserole dish in a little olive oil. Add the garlic once the onions have started to soften (if you do them both together the garlic can burn, which is vile)

Add the browned mince to the onions and garlic. Toss in the chopped pepper. once everything is suitably softened (but not sticking) add the tinned tomatoes. Rinse the tins out with red wine (about half a can full in each). Add the herbs and seasoning. Bring to the boil and then set on the lowest simmer or slam in the oven for an hour or so. Stir and add mushrooms. Simmer for another 20 mins or so.

this is LUSH spag bol / tray bake

To make chilli add a tin of kidney beans and as much chilli powder as your family likes. Serve with tacos, rice, tortillas or jackets.

    YUM!!!!!
