  • It took 2 mins to download over my connection. Really enjoyed being spoken to, felt somehow more informed?! Any chance of getting your radio appearances saved into this format on posted on the mse site?

    Just listened to mine.

Martin, that was so nice! Thanks and well done for thinking of it. It's a lovely personal touch and makes being part of the site even more cosy and fun. It just keeps getting better, doesn't it! :)

I have broadband anyway, so the download wasn't a problem, but I think I would listen to it even if I was on dial-up. It's a great tool for getting the info into your head and helping to make sure it stays there for longer. I wouldn't want it to replace the Tips, but it's a definite enhancement.

Also, I can understand why you might want to make it more 'professional' and add music and suchlike, but frankly, I won't enjoy it as much when you have. I wouldn't enjoy a phone call from a mate as much with music playing in the background either. Please don't polish it too much; it's great pretty much as it is. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! :D

    Ooh, yes! PLEASE!

I always miss them, as I'm not really a radio person. Too many knobs to twiddle and I go to pieces! *ahem* ;):)

One thing it has made me consider though is adding an audio explanation to some of the major articles - eg. best balance transfers - as i think it may make it easier for people to understand.

I agree that this is an excellent idea. People take information onboard in different ways. For some people it's visual; others are better listening to a voice. Using a combination of methods not only increases the number of people you get through to, it enhances individual uptake as well. (This is probably what I was trying to say in my earlier post, but I didn't quite manage to put it very well! :))

  • It was definitely better to listen to it rather than read - and doing "Save as..." would solve most people's problems with listening to it

Just a thought to put the cat among the pigeons - why not do it as video. I look at the BBC weather every morning off their website (streaming over broadband) without any problems. I realise that this would exclude the dial-up fraternity, but you could do it for them as an audio file to download.

IMHO a "talking head" is much better than a squawking head

I'll second that as it's impossible for me to give a whole hour to listening to the radio at 1pm on a Friday, and I can never get the BBC's "play today's show" thing to work... :(

I just pop in now and then.... :)

I'm afraid it's not me he won't the copyright of the BBC's broadcast that would be the enormous event, and quite rightly, just like I am they are very protective of their content.

As a making it a video, actually it's something I've thought of the what I'd like to do it see how much it is regularly used this way first, it's much cheaper to do a radio broadcast.

The other thing is by doing it on the radio I can simply sit there in Gabba with a piece of paper in front of me, so the five minutes you hear literally is only taking five minutes of my time. To do a video one would actually involve a much greater process, so it's a long time down the track.

We are looking to change the way that we send it next week to be quicker to download, and already started thinking about adding Martin's money mutterings to the articles, should property the balance transfer one of the next week or two.

Hope this makes sense, I've done it with my speech dictation so you may see a couple of oddities in

    That's a shame... :(

Maybe I'll post on the Technie's board to see why I can't hear the "Listen to today's show" thing...

Really good, just like having you in the room  . Hubby came in the room and rolled his eyes, much as he was doing when I made him sit through the seven deadly sins programme on tv!

One thing though, no more loud hand claps right by the mike please
