Really good, I liked it nice and clear. Dont know about music playing though it can be annoying at times.Dreams Do Come True0

Great Idea!! Thank you Martin - this site just keeps getting better and better!0

Same as Fran, I got the "Hello and welcome to the firs.." using Firefox 1.0 as my web browser.
However, I then clicked on File > Save Page As and saved the .MP3 to my Hard Disk, double clicked the file and the entire "Mutterings" played in Windows Media Player. :-)
Excellent idea - the site just seems to be expanding to cover everything, which is great!0 -
Downloaded fine. Good idea. I did notice that the 5.2MB file was compressed to 128kbit and was stereo. I compressed it further so it was just 32kbit and in mono sound. It sounds the same and for just voice do you really need near CD quality? My compressed file was only 1.3MB, a lot better for those on dial-up?

Loved it, Martin. It was just like listening to you on Jeremy Vine, only without all the annoying interruptions!!Carpe diem0

Downloaded fast, no problems. Excellent that it was mp3 and not some proprietary format with few players. Streaming mp3 next ?
Enjoyed listening to Martin for only the second time and yes, it does add a personal touch.

Tremendous! Makes things alot more understandable, especially when there's lots of text to read. A definate thumbs up.0

great, like it! another great add-on to the site. i have to echo the previous posters that mentioned the dl speed. i maxed 70kb/s and it took aaaaages! (relatively speaking). dial-up users would be dying!Multi-tasking is a way of ensuring you don't enjoy any of them.0

No problems with QuickTime and broadband, since it starts playing as soon as it has buffered a few seconds of voice.
Content: good, but I'm not sure whether hearing it is a major improvement on reading it? Is Martin aiming to do a Radio 4 Money Box emulation?
Microphone: could do with an upgrade, IMHO! Sound quality appears medium, only. Several plosive "b" and "p" noises, so it probably should be further away from the mouth.
However, I love the way he says "yurs" in the oil piece, about 70% of the way through: "I've been looking for years". It was worth listening to the whole download just for this! (What it is to have bizarre tastes)!
