  • Oil ordered :j £312.22 for 500 litres, after i ordered i went out and found a cane from last years sunflowers and did a dip of the tank, actually looks like there is more in there than DH thought - i should never trust that man not to make a drama about everything!!

Now have £82.26 to last until his payday on the 24th, although we still haven't seen the milkman, so i suppose i have to hang onto £40 of that. So DH's weekend shop is going to have to be no more than £42 . I have about £30 in my purse and some things finishing on ebay but nothing that will bring in a fortune. Wouldn't do my waistline any harm to have a soup fueled week!

  • Well done on getting money together to order the oil, how long will it last?

Money is tight for me at the minute and still have loads of things to pay for, need to buy another birthday present tomorrow and kids are on hols hext week so a couple of day trips to pay out for as well, i actually chucked a load of veggies, tinned tomatoes and lentils in slow cooker this morning before work, soup will tide us over the weekend for lunchtimes.
  • Hi Penny,
You were right about it being one thing after another to pay for!
Do you have anything unopened from Xmas that could be used as a b'day pressie?

The good news is smallest child had his first visit at the new nursery this afternoon and seemed happy with everything and the even better news is the monthly fee is £61.14 less, so £733.68 less a year :j:j still to work out the diesel saving, hoping it's impressive too, off to put that into my cashflow spreadsheet!
Still feel like we need all these bits and pieces just to make ends almost meet from month to month but at least managing(struggling) without adding to the ccs is a major step :D

All sounding very positive good news on the oil and reduced nursery fees im sure it will help.
Great news no extra spending in the cc :T
    MARCH 2016 DEBT £25750/ £25035
EST DFD JAN 2021 (that needs to change)
NOW JAN 2019 (that still needs to change)
  • Well weekly shop done and £14.76 left to the OD limit and £30 in purse. Dh gets paid on Thursday and i'll get paid on the following Monday, tight tight tight.
Next month not looking any better and DH getting quite down about the lack of money whereas i'm on positive mode, well at least because we haven't used the ccs - can't win sometimes :D

Did some calculations regarding less mileage when DS starts at the new nursery and that looks good too, Dh should be £50 less on petrol a month and if my boss agrees to me doing more hours at home and less at the office that would mean i don't have to drive back after lunch which would, with the shorted nursery drive, save me about £100 in diesel a month.
Still doesn't seem to give us any extra money to throw at Opus but should mean it isn't quite such a scarey struggle.
However Dh's car insurance is due at the end of March, so the gutters go down the list again :(

  • Not a lot to report, actually came home from work as i got in and was sick, so working from home as i feel okay now but didn't want to stay just in case:o

Refund from e-on as have moved electricity to edf of £12.59 :j, wish it was more but at least it's a refund and not a bill!

Sold a few of DDs outgrown clothes on ebay so that's been a few pounds into the bank and got paid £10 for doing a new product testing which was a nice bonus.

Other than that just plodding along, have done internet payments to the ccs for the 1st of the month on the basis that i can't do anything other than round up the minimums to the nearest £5 but by paying them before the due dates that should reduce the interest by a few pennies:p

Looks like we are going to be £300 odd short in March and that's before food so need to find another big ticket item to ebay but not a lot left, problem is i don't think this is going to get any easier until the first loan ends in two years.
Not sure whether to risk being rejected for another loan to put some cc debt onto at a lower interest rate or ask about adding to the mortgage. Don't even know if increasing the mortgage is an option in the current climate, ummmm...

Hi Polly, just discovered your diary so thought i would say hello.

we're in a similar situation to you in that we were overly optimistic about how much mortgage we could afford. I'm struggling to keep the debts down but i fear this month is going to be one of those where the debt goes UP not down :(

just keep saying to myself...only three and a half years til we have some money again......:j

  • my fear is if interest rates increase. I just about make ends meet each month now, a hike in interest rates would kill me.
Proud to be dealing with my debts,

  • Hi Pink, good to meet you! Is three years your DFD? Not too long in the great scheme of things. Have you got a diary?

Yes C i'm terrified too, we're on a tracker mortgage that is great at the moment but the BoE rate won't stay this low for too much longer. Find myself punching the air everytime they've kept it at 0.5%!
Just know the ccs will up their rates again never mind the fact that they didn't come down...

Need to go and get some dog food hoping that DH's pay tomorrow will be okay to use the bank card, also need to get a tin of chocs for the old nursery, wish i could get them all something more personal but... Will try and get the children to do individual cards instead.
A couple of ebay parcels to post, that small cheque to pay in and i think i'll look for a little diary that i can use exclusively for debt tracking, statement dates, interest paid etc to keep me focussed and to have to hand if i get tempted...

Checked a couple of DHs cc statements on line, again not used for the month so down, not sure this will be the case next month as it's looking worse than ever even with less mileage.

  • Hi PWD, just an idea but could you bake a cake for nursery instead of buying sweets, you could ice a big thankyou on it, just an idea.

I'm also nervous about interest rates going up, feel like every month they don't is a bit longer to pay off debt and !!!!!! not to hit the fan, but know they will go up sooner rather than later, scary.
