  • Hi Lifewaiting,

Thanks for posting, i'm hoping we will be offered the DAS route, Dh will need one too as the mortgage and secured loan are in joint names and he has high ccs too and the loan is from his parents.

I'm wary of the credit rating but as far as i can see it's not a 'forever' note like insolvency would be. TBH i don't want credit ever again, but i do want savings! The only thing would be if we couldn't guarantor a mortgage for the children in the future etc. But at least there would be a future.

How long have you got your DAS for and how long did it take to get sorted from start to agreement?

Thanks again for posting, it's difficult to talk about this in the 'real' world.

  • Afternoon all,

Again not a lot happening but at the same time lots ;)

Still waiting on the confirmation letter about our new Co-op a/c, has been confirmed over the phone and even set up internet banking but can't access it until the letter comes with the sort code and a/c number.
Apparently we can go into any branch of the Britannia BS and they can tell us the details, so will get Dh to do that on Monday as i'm getting worried we won't be able to get salaries and DDs etc moved over for pay days at the end of the month. And if we can't move the salaries then we'd need to pay the RBS ccs.

Saw the CAB man on Thursday, very nice and helpful and his advice was to stop paying the ccs, except the RBS ones till we're away from them as above.
He thinks we should be eligible for the Scottish DAS, which is a debt repayment plan that is protected, so you do have to pay off every penny you owe at the time of approval but you are protected from any court action, stops on your accounts, arrestment of wages or repossession / forced bankruptcy etc as long as you make your agreed payment through the DAS each month.

The worry, apart from praying that we get accepted, is that he didn't think we could include the loan to the in-laws, and that's not a position i want to be in. FIL is in his 70s with angina and they are not well off.
Soooo if we are not in any repayment plan for a couple of months we should have some surplus while things get organised and if we're really careful and not paying ccs in those months then i'm hoping we can save £2k and give them that as a gesture. We still need new tyres for the backs of both our cars and both cars are due a service asap. The gutters are still not fixed and we have snow again as i type
So it's been days and days of trying to settle on a realistic budget that still leaves a surplus to pay off the creditors and i get different figures every time i do it!

Have to go back to the CAB the week after next and see the accredited advisor, so hopefully she'll tell us the in-laws loan situation and we can get going with the application.

On a good note the breakdown firm, GEM's cheque arrived in the post reimbursing DH for earlier in the week, so that was super fast, so banked that this morning! Took £50 out to cover school lunches and breakfast club for next week and took dd to WH Smith as she had a birthday gift card to spend, so a pile of books for her. I picked up a few but somehow managed to put them back :A
However i did stop and get the paper and they had an offer on big bars of Dairy Milk, ooppss :D

Onwards, upwards and out of debt.

Glad you have had some advice and you are going back, they deal with debt everyday and will hopefully advise you of a budget where you are still able to live. I hope they can allow you to oay the inlaws back too as its still a debt.
Opps to the choc but it was cheaper than a pile of books LOL
Hope you are feeling a little better now that things are starting to get sorted with the bank account and payments, sometimes just sharing the info helps
    Have a good day

    Hi Polly

Glad to see things are panning out for you. It must be a huge relief to have someone at CAB on your side.

    Good luck!

  • Morning,
Thanks Pink, still not sure if we're doing the right thing but i don't think we can feed the children if we don't do something!

Pouring with rain here so definately feels like a Monday, still another day nearer to payday and hoping DH will get to the new bank today to get the sort code and account number we need to move the salaries etc across. Keep everything crossed he doesn't get distracted!

Can't believe all the pictures coming over from Japan at the moment, makes me feel very selfish when i'm obsessing about money.

Morning - well done for being pro-active and getting help, like you said earlier, it is hard to talk about things like this in the real world.
As for the chocolate - we all need a pick me up every now and then. Unfortunately most of my debt is made up of 'pick me up' spending - if only I'd stuck to buying a chocolate bar rather than spending £9k on a conservatory ;)
Proud to be dealing with my debts,

I know what you mena about Japan. It makes you appreciate it all so much more doesn't it.

Just had a hysterical conversation with my friend about the Brian Cox programme and whether we are here at all. As she put it 'if i am only a manifestation of my imagination why did i make my life so sh*t?!' :rotfl:

  • Well DH has trailed to the Britannia in his lunchtime only to be told that as the Co-op have posted out the new account details they can't tell them to him. I know it's security but AARRRGGHHHH:mad::mad::mad:

Haven't had any post today and they say it was posted on Thursday.
I'm not panicing, i think, i just want to get the salaries and DDs over to them and away from RBS and feel like i'm doing something.
Wondering about going to the Clydesdale this afternoon and seeing if i can open something there. Of course if i do that the letter will be waiting for me when i get home!!
    Calm calm calm.

So i've been phoning and switching stuff all afternoon, hope the RBS don't get too suspicious too soon, oh i hate this ducking and diving but needs must.
At least i can now get this bit started / completed and then it's over to CAB for the next step

Shattered now, so heading for an early night xx
