  • Morning All,

Thanks HWG, you know what it's like some days you're focussed and energised and other days you're not:D but ATM i'm so glad we've taken the advice route.

DH's salary has gone into the Co a/c:j:j, how relieved am i!!
So i'm going to have to post more ebay parcels, both DD's b'day things, so another £20 to her, she'll have this laptop before i know it at this rate;)
Buy some more postage labels as more on ebay that finish at the weekend. Buy breakfast cereal as DH thought we had more than we do and i'll get the first £250 of cash out of the hole in the wall. DH needs petrol today so i won't put the full £200 in his envelope!

Loads of washing and ironing to plod away at and buttons to sew on his shirts, bit colder and overcast outside so not likely to get anything dried out there:(

    Have a great day!

  • Ahhh dull, overcast and cold here so the tumble dryer is on:mad::mad:
However on leave today:j, so life is not all bad!!

Bought two bottles of own label bubble bath yesterday from Tesco and will use it to fill up the liquid soap dispensers around the house today:money:. Was going to get the children to do it but realised it would have ended in tears so i'll have all the fun myself:D
There's a new money saving prog on Channel 4 tonight - can't wait, it all helps in keeping motivated.

Need to take more cash out of the bank today, DH away with £10 as they have an away day today and he doesn't know if he'll need cash or if everything will be provided. Blinking stupid as it is in two locations so they have extra travel over their normal day.

Might try and get a couple more things onto ebay as well, find it easier if it's just a few bits at a time rather than overloading our little village PO!
Sent off the acceptance for the gas connection yesterday, fingers crossed it is free:D the plan being to not actually get a meter or anything yet but when the oil boiler packs up we can compare costs then and when we get round to selling having a gas connection should be a plus point.

Oh and there's a Joules clearance sale at the weekend, so may take my £100 clothing budget and have some fun, will probably just get childrens stuff though, although you never know!

No word from CAB yet about the next steps, so will be watching the letter box too.

  • Ohh busy day at work, the joys of the financial year end.
Well my salary has also been paid into the new a/c :j:j so very happy and relieved that our salaries are ours and not locked up by RBS.

Still no copy of DH's contract, think i'll be suggesting he physically goes to HR tomorrow and watches them print one off and hand it to him:mad::mad:

Both the new egg and Tesco savings a/cs have been approved and opened and i've drawn out £250 cash each of the last three days, so tonight i will be having an inaugural jam jar filling and online transferring to savings 'last day of the month', think i will need DH to drag out the smallest child's mini drum kit and perform a drum roll:D to celebrate the occasion!

Tomorrow night we will probably be reversing the savings transfer as his car needs new back tyres and is asking for a service, whilst my car has it's 'brakes nearly worn out' light on and it needs two new back tyres too, don't think the £60 servicing allocation will cover all that:eek:

Onwards and upwards. Found two Mother's Day cards that were bought last year and never sent, so a very :money:saving there, sooo cheap!

  • Two letters in the post today for DH one from mbna and the other from Cap1 saying CAB have been in touch and they now have 30days to get our income & expenditure details to them, so action:j.
Strange thing is i get a letter from mbna saying my a/c has been closed and to destroy anything i have in connection with it, do i assume it's the same reason, ummm can feel another phone call coming on:D and i so love mbna's automated voice recognition system:rotfl:

I'm seriously thinking it should be me that goes BR and Dh does the payment arrangement thing. There is more debt in my name and i'm the one that pushed him into all this !!!!.

Anyway hurrah to the weekend - it's been a very quick week!

  • DH has just informed me that his Dad told him a few days ago that the £5 cleared into his a/c.
So i've just transferred £495 :j:j:joff to change sig, woo hoo!!

Nothing else happening, waiting for DH's contract to appear to make a decision.
Bought two bikes from Gumtree for two eldest, every so often i realise just how full my head is with debt that i have forgotten to be a parent. Helmets tomorrow, fingers crossed for a sale!!

Great news on making your first repayment to the inlaws it must feel great to start clearing it.
Also remember being a parent isnt all about what material items you can give, just being there for your kids will mean so much more. As they say there is more to life than money.
Good luck with your helmet hunting tomorrow.

  • Thanks HWG, it was amazing yesterday at work when i mentioned getting a couple of bikes everyone asked which bike shop i'd gone to, just said oh no they were second hand £20 each from Gumtree! I'm really happy about it as i'd be precious if they were new and they still have to learn to ride which means the bikes will get hammered, so perfect for the purpose!

  • Ohhh at last a warm, sunny, windy day here:j so duvet in the washing machine, pillows to follow and bedding out on the line, yeh!!

Still watching the letter box for DH's contract, he phoned them again and offered to come and collect it but they don't do face to face and they are too busy to do his stuff ahead of other things, bloody ridiculous but what can you do, i think even if he asked one of them about BR they wouldn't know and the answer wouldn't even be right, so best to see it in writing and then go from there.

Does anyone know who is behind Tesco Bank or are they just Tesco??

    hi Polly

glad it's all going so well for you.

Tesco's bank are run by Royal Bank of Scotland. well the banking side of it is, but they are owned by Tesco's.

Does that help? I used to be a banker but i get confused...lol

Any company that offers financial services has to have a bank to do the processing for them unless they have a huge fortune to invest in setting everything up from scratch. Which of course would negate their profits sharply!
