  • Thanks HWG, they enjoyed Rio but £14.95 for the three of us:eek:
Spotty youth just said you turn up at 10am for the £1 tickets and the film is advertised on-line, so will suggest that to DH for next week when he is off!

Also spent on Aunt's birthday pressie and card, got her a lovely silver necklace, so feel happy about that. She never spends much but never forgets a birthday and is great at Christmas, again doesn't spend much but gets lots of little things and makes up a big Santa sack for them, which at this age they love!

Also bought sweeties at Asda rather than the cinema and brought our own grapes too:money:
Also bought some lights for the garden but after the cinema i took them back, definately a step in the right direction, just wish i could crack the impulse spending in the first place.

Right off to see what i can ebay and tidy a bit more of the house:D

    Hi Polly

I am abit of an impulse spender, I'm not as bad as I used to be but the impulsive side of me can quickly get the better of me.
I used to go into Boots with the intention to buy x but come out with £40 worth of make up as well! Another weakness was buying clothes for DS and DD thinking its only a fiver but those fivers soon add up. I've found that going to Aldi for grocery shopping has really curbed the impulse shopping as theres nothing to buy there except for food. Now I also only shop for food once a week and if something gets used up before shopping day thats it we make do with whats there until its shopping day again.

Its really hard to change/break habbits though and I still fail sometimes but now the failures are less and alot less expensive. At this very moment though I'm battling with myself not to go and buy a dress that I saw on my way into work this morning!

    Have a good day xx
  • Well done on taking the lights back.
  • Thanks guys, read on your diary Choo that you really resisted the dress temptation today, WELL DONE :money:
Maybe need to think of it as a post-exam reward?

What stage are you at? Is it ACCA?

Penny, we did well today, resisted the museum that would have cost another £15 and went with friend and her children to the local country park, free entry as i had tokens from ages ago:jso only spends were in the cafe and that wasn't bad as we'd taken a picnic, so just tea, coffee etc to warm up, so only £4ish for my lot:j:j

Came back to letter from tax credits saying no more payments will be made, which i had expected and so far nothing about repaying them but it may well come, sad though as it reduces our income:(

The next thing i need to decide on is getting the dog neutered, might phone the vet and see how much that will be...

Have done a bit of tidying today and will continue tonight and tomorrow at a slow flylady 15 mins at a time. We have so much stuff it is unbelievable, i'm sitting here with a pile of old music tapes on my desk, i should just bin them but....

  • Well done on the cheap day out, sounds like you had fun.

Boo about tax credits, i don't get them at the moment as they overpaid us a couple of years ago, didn't have to pay it back in a lump sum they took it from future awards, might get them next year if were lucky.

Sounds like you have had a great day. I have curbed my spends by asking everytime do I NEED this or just WANT this that usually makes me put it back.

  • Morning All,

Penny, i'm hoping that's what they'll do with us too as smallest has still another two years and four months in nursery with the associated costs but we'll wait and see.

Thanks HWG, you know you are a strong character, we've seen what you've achieved single handed, i'm trying and the big change for me is going cash / debit card only and therefore having to think about everything.
The other big change for us is only doing a food shop once a week, pre-LBM it was every other day and all the associated 'extras' that seemed to end up in the basket:eek:

Right nothing but pre-valuation tidying planned for today, hope the children survive, valuer due at 1.30pm so hopefully enough time to get it presentable, or as presentable as it can be with wallpaper partially stripped, front door peeling etc etc:D

    PWD xx

  • Hey all,
valuation man been and gone, he was nice, said he'll need to chat to a couple of collegues as it's very difficult to value 'one off' properties at the moment, don't know if that helps!!
I've asked for an as it stands now value and a what if we finished everything off value.
Of course i got a bit of sale about their in-house loan team etc etc, resisted the temptation to say the B work;)

Rewarded middle child with the Buzz Lightyear he has been begging for all year, it was lovely he was kissing the box all the way home - so felt like a good mummy:D:D Bought some chocolate cheesecake, reduced, for pudding, oh and Cadbury's chocolate desserts are still on offer too:eek:

Oh and big BIG news is DH's contract FINALLY arrived in the post:j:j:beer::beer::j:j and there is not a word about BR, so will phone or email CAB tomorrow once we've had a chat tonight. The sooner we get him BR and me on a DMP the better, as long as we can continue to pay off the in-laws too.

  • Phoned three vets for neutering quots, ranged from £138 to £220 all incl VAT but not clear about post op painkillers, umm. So have that funny feeling that the cheapest may not really end up being the cheapest:p
Anyway at least now i can get budgeting for that, i was putting £20 per month into the vet line of my s/sheet but might have to juggle, he's 9 months now so no great rush and he's okay, not agressive so will probably let him get to 1 and then book him in;)
