  • Flipping blowing a gale out there today and wet, better than yesterday's snow mind you!

Well have e-mailed the school and said thank you so much but we can't make ends meet despite such a generous offer.
Then was chatting to another mum at school pick up who was thrilled because her son has been offered a 50% bursary to another school, i could cry but no point, i got us into this so need to keep trying to get us out of it

Bought three Fredo frogs and a packet of Breakaways on the way home. Children been really good at school this week, so that was their treat. Other than that no spends. First milk man payment tomorrow and i don't know how much it will be! One week trial though so we'll decide when we hear the price. But it has worked in that DH has not been to the supermarket since Saturday.

Got £5 paypal credit today for a new product test and review, hurrah! Still no sign of quidco money.
Oh and Tesco clubcard statement came today £21 :j

Will need to put the heating on now as it's freezing :(
oh and resisted the mocha temptation at work, so will go and chuck the £1.65 at Opus or should that be MIL :p

    PWD xx

Pity you don't live in Scotland or Wales, prescriptions are free.

Hmmmmm, I wonder what the legal situation would be if I were to post my prescriptions to Wales to be filled?.

  • Hi Patman, we do live north of the border, the surgery said prescriptions will be free from April :j and Dh shouldn't need another lot of inhalors till then!
Given the Rab C Nesbit ref are you 'up here' too?

  • Have about £27 sitting in Quidco, so hoping the first payment will clear soon, does it just go to your bank account?

    Hi Polly,

Have been browsing through your diary - you're doing a great job. :)

With regards to Quidco - has any of the £27 actually been paid to Quidco yet? What happens is that your cashback is tracked, then validated and then (eventually) paid to Quidco. Your transactions status will tell you how much has been paid to Quidco - you won't get any money until it appears in the Paid column.

Once it's paid, then sometime that month, the money will be paid to you. Once Quidco send you the money it should be in your account within a couple of days. They will email you to let you know they've sent it. Don't forget they will deduct £5 from the first payment as a subscription fee.

I am 'up North', North Essex that is. I have been to Scotland, The Bridge of Allen to be precise. We visited Stirling, but as my spouse was preggers at the time, she didn't feel up to walking up hill to the castle.

That was over 18 years ago. Must come back again soon.

  • Ahhh thanks Peace & Freedom, just checked and it is just at the validated stage, so i'll not panic yet! They'd sent me an email earlier this week, which i didn't read properly hence thinking it was on it's way. Maybe i'll get the dosh in time for Easter!!

That's not too far out probably! I got lots of cashback tracked in October-ish time, and I've had one payment in January of £70 and just had another of £84 - good times. :D
  • DH has done the (hopefully) weekly food shopping, used to go about three times a week and always bought expensive premium range stuff. The only 'finest' thing this time was sausages!
£11.09 in Lidl and £43 in Tesco but used the £21.50 in clubcard vouchers, so £22 instead. Would have preferred to hang onto the vouchers but needs must and it hopefully it will mean we don't need to use ccs.
Have £271.54 to the od limit to get us to DH's payday on the 24th, so that needs to cover petrol, diesel, milk and food.
I'm sure the oil tank is low but again hopefully we can keep the heating off for another month or two! Children all fit in the bath together and only get two baths a week, hope they don't smell :D
so that's the only other time plus a bit of washing up we need the oil for the hot water. DH and i have showers so that's electric.

DD will be 8 in March so need to think of something cheap and cheerful. Think i will get her a purse, piggy bank and start pocket money. :money:Do you think £8 a month is about right, i read somewhere that Gordon Ramsey gives his children the number of pounds that equates to their age, although i think that was weekly! TBH we don't do shopping as an activity, so i'm hoping she'll save.
Still fancy a piano and getting her lessons but need a freebie piano!

  • I got dd a bank account last year when she was 8 and I have SO paying £1 a week in it - soon builds up. She feels grown up cos she has a paying in book and stuff. She also has a money box, but like you say, we don't go shopping as an activity -(oh to have the money to be able to afford it!) so she does save ;)
Proud to be dealing with my debts,

  • Thanks C, a pound a week sounds fine and your girls sound pretty good with money - that's what i'd like to achieve! Just don't want to start and then have to stop iykwim, so need to budget that in. Quite like the idea of doing that for DH and i, £44 for him and a pound less for me!! See you can have £40 from today!
