  • Morning,

Sent an email yesterday from work to the council area that the new nursery is in to ask about the refund for partnership funding, so we'll wait and see what they come back with.
Current nursery in tears every time we go in now! Not helping my guilt but but but...

DH off to Lidl / Tesco, pray he doesn't spend much, the problem is he still isn't meal planning and i think that's the only way to help really so he's buying what will make so many meals. I have tried quite a few times to sit down with him and get it done but to no avail. Don't want to take this over as cooking and food shopping is his main duty and we both work full time. I suppose he's quite fussy too, doesn't like cheese (i love cheese) doesn't think pasta or quiche etc counts as a meal, very much a meat for dinner man. Will keep trying!

Smallest child has a hearing test today, think he's fine but up here there seems to be more money than sense for some NHS things, gosh i hope i'm not proved wrong now!
Then we have to check the school hens, hope there's no fox on our watch . Tomorrow should be quiet just swimming lessons, washing and heaps of ironing, will try and walk the pup off his paws too as he's getting bored and i'm getting heavier .

So far so good on the delayed cc statements, not received any rogue ones yet.
Still unsure what to do, get in-laws paid or tackle opus, i suppose i could split any surplus (not that we've had any surplus yet - but i like to have a theory / plan!) and one month pay them then the next opus....

Have about £27 sitting in Quidco, so hoping the first payment will clear soon, does it just go to your bank account? So could split that £13.50 to opus and £13.50 to savings to build up to the first £1,000 to in-laws. Ohh i don't know...

Right off to ebay to look for pjs for middle child, they will keep growing :D

  • Your idea of a quiet day is swimming, washing and ironing. My idea is sitting on the sofa watching TV :)

Yep me too today its known as Saturday Recovery Day ;)

NOW JAN 2019 (that still needs to change)
  • Quiet day has been surprisingly productive. Wrote big cheque for new nursery and took the dog for the two mile walk and posted it through their letterbox. Flipping exhausted now as it's a steep hilly walk but at least the dog is sleeping at my feet now rather than harrasing DH in the kitchen!

Wrote big cheque for professional subs that was due on 1st Jan and posted that.
Have taken a note of the new nursery's registration number so will try and phone and sort childcare vouchers tomorrow.
Wrote cheques for school breakfast club and lunches too.

Have raided the elder two children's wardrobes for school uniform for their old school, so will take that in this week for the next second hand sale and pray some things sell, we'd get two thirds back and the school keep a third.

Still haven't ebayed so that might be the job for tonight after swimming, talking of which time to go.
Still one wispa left in the cupboard for middle child if he manages to brave the diving board again!:A

Oh and paid £2.31 extra to Opus to bring that odd number down!

  • Ohh funny old day, lots of rubbish going on at work, two jobs advertised within our little team and as if by magic only the two people the manager wanted to shoehorn into them applied, so no interviews, no references, nothing just a two grade increase...
The whole place stinks but there doesn't seem to be any jobs out there at the moment and i don't want to take a pay cut. Just don't know how long i can live with it all... :(

£3 to paypal from my surveys, hurrah! Still waiting for the quidco money to hit, hopefully soon. Bought puppy food and chews today, so £20 there.

DD offered half price discount on fees for a really good prep school and i so want to say yes, especially when i have to listen to drivel at work all day, want them to do better than DH and i. But it would still be £2,100 per term, plus driving / train for DH to drop her off etc. New school is fab and i'm not unhappy if she stays there till secondary but ohhh the opportunities if we could manage it. Saving £500 a month would cover it and that's almost achievable, although means waiting for even longer to finish the house and pay off the debts. But the biggest problem is the in-laws, they need their cruise money back! And TBH i need it off my concience too.
    Gggrrrr bleeping money :D

Thats a lot of money each term to find, is it something your DD wants to do ?

DS was offered a scholarship last year but didnt want to leave his friends, and he is doing so well glad we didnt push it.

Hope work calms down a bit, dont think there are no jobs out there I changed twice last year as I wasnt happy and got myself a payrise along the way.

  • Only you know what is best for your child. We thought about private school for our 2 eldest (were a little better off then, but were semi-confident of a scholarship) However we were really happy with the primary school they were at. They had a lovely schooling - we were so lucky - I also had no trouble telling the school when I was unhappy and I was able to go in and help when needed. Secondary school was a very different matter, I would have taken a second mortgage (if I could!! :) ) to get them into a good school, luckily they passed the grammar school test so it is free. However, 2 more to go and I don't know what we'll do yet, but what ever it is- it will be what is best for the kids.

I come from a town with several private schools including a Boy's High, a Girl's High and a Grammar School. Compared to the pupils from the local secondary schools, the private school pupils are the rudest most ignorant bunch you will ever come-across. They never give-up their seats on the bus for the elderly and think they own the pavement.

Must admit, when I read the post about you walking to the new nursery with a letter and the dog before posting it through the letterbox, I had visions of you trying to stuff a dog though a letterbox.

If your washing machine has a delay on it, then you can do your washing on cheap-rate leccy. I reckon to have saved £10.00 p/m doing this.

  • Thanks guys, i think i am nearly there on leaving her where she is, they only moved out of private school at Christmas, and the wee village school is fab (not our village!), so i have no problems with her staying there. We can worry about secondary later!
Up here there aren't any grammars (but well done to your two eldest C for getting in) and there are loads of primaries but then they go into HUGE secondaries and to a large extent it's the survival of the fittest, ho hum. Still would love to take advantage of the offer but i've been through my cashflow several times and it just doesn't work alongside paying back the in-laws and then of course what would we do with thing 2 and thing 3??:D

Money, so far no need to use ccs this month but still 21 days till Dh is paid, so a long way to go.
£6 for DH's prescription today, £1.81 for chocs for the children on the way home and a kitchen timer at £9.99, DH has dropped two in recent months, so this one is magnetic and can be stuck on the fridge - hopefully it might last longer!
Paid cash for the prescription and the chocolate and got two £2 coins, so they are now in a tub.:j

Puppy through someone else's letterbox is quite a tempting thought some days!
