  • Hi Chevalier and thanks for your thoughts, i think your gut feeling is the same as mine re getting rid of Opus first, THB though now i'm really looking at it we're struggling just to make the minimums never mind overpay but will keep going!
Also think you're right about the surveys, so will see if i can get DH to register too, or maybe just take some of the surveys on my accounts - i wonder if they throw you off if sometimes you're male and sometimes female!!
I have done a SOA elsewhere and it made us make a lot of changes but i will have another bash at it.

What's new, well mad pup has got through to the springs on our sofa  and my car is going to get it's tracking checked tomorrow as the shudder through the steering wheel is frightening. Tracking costs £15.50 plus VAT and sofa will have to survive with a couple of cushions over the spring :rotfl:, what's a debt buster to do!!
Thanks to pennywise Dh has been baking with the children so waistline not helped but chocoholism and budget better.

No statements so no update, doing okay with ebay but still look horribly short of money this month, everything is going to hang on when the cc payments are due, not a nice feeling.

  • Afternoon diaryland,

Cheque from Music Magpie arrived, £25.66 for over 40cds that wouldn't sell on ebay, so that's good.

Took my car the garage and bless them they didn't charge as it isn't the tracking or the balancing it's a twisted tyre! Apparently quite common, never had it before but then i've never let my tyres get this close the the wire, 500 - 1000 miles left in the two worst ones, so need to get them renewed very soon.
He quoted £50 each for midrange ones that will do 15,000 miles or £75 each for good ones that should do 25,000 miles, can you feel a spreadsheet coming up!!

Again ebay going well but it's only plugging the gap in the bank at the moment, still we're on the case, at last :o.

Free listing on ebay so will try and get some more things on, found a few of the toddler's jumpers in a crate, must have stashed them away in the summer to sell and forgot, so hopefully still in time to get a buyer or two.

Dh on board now i think, TBH i've always held the purse strings, just very badly...
However he'll need a new season ticket for the train next week and that'll be interesting to see how we pay for that.

Oh HWG i signed up to some of the ccs online, so now know that my MBNA will fall due on the wrong side of payday and DH's hasn't been done yet so hopefully it will fall on the right side.
Oh and two lots of swimming lesson money to find for tomorrow £26.60 x 2 for a block of seven weeks.
Then they are back to school, new school, so more money for breakfast club and lunches, last school added everything to a fixed DD that was spread over 10 months, this looks like cash or cheque each day or week.

Hope everyone's well, we've got snow again - fine if it's gone by Monday.

    Hi PWD

Have you ever changed to due date on your cc, I struggled for years with Lloyds as it was always due 2 days before payday and I never seemed to get it right. They told me many times there was nothing they could do and then one day I spoke to a man who said no problem what date would suit me and they just changed it, give them a call its worth a try only moved it by a week but made such a difference.
We had snow yesterday in Yorkshire but its gone now where are you ?

Hi PWD, MBNA changed my payment date the other day when I asked them to, so it might be worth asking them if it is a problem for you.

    Good luck with the debtbusting!

  • Once again thanks guys, i hadn't even thought of asking, such a beginner!
My statement is there on line but DH's isn't, so might get him to call them once the children are in bed and see if they can do anything as you're both right i think it would help.

Have listed some more things on ebay and have more to do tonight, hadn't appreciated that you can set your starting price higher than 99p and that's free too, see niaive or what.

    Thanks again, will report back.

  • Morning,

Ohh DH phoned mbna last night and they were happy to move his statement / due dates forward without any hassle at all - so thank you HWG and jwil!
So that means about £230 less of a problem this month.

Will have a look and see if it's worth moving any others or if it's something i do for next month and move my mbna or the dreaded opus.

Still ebaying, got a load on yesterday so just one or two things left for today.

Snow hasn't gone so digging out the cars will be required, boo. We're north of the border HWG.

Someone at work has offered to 'clean' my pc so may disappear for a couple of days while he fights the trojan, not had any problems, hope that's not tempting fate, but better to deal with it, another £30 i wasn't anticipating!

Nearly time to get them off to bed :j:j

    Glad the cc got sorted.

You could put a post on the techie board on here - they'll give you step by step instructions how to clear your computer. I've posted queries on there before or just followed the advice and the peeps on there are fab! And it's all free.
