My bins (rubbish and garden) are frozen to the ground.
I did work out that I could reach them from the back window so made progress thumping the top with a broom ala pigpen - shifted the layer off the top, but need more work round the edges.0 -
Loads of help here today, kids have been really good.
Lunch has been done (hubby made it  and he's promised to keep the sticks coming for the fire), next is the front hall.
Our room has been well gutted today and loads of washing sorted. I want a nice relaxing bedroom tonight with nothing out of place.
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough. And things go wrong no matter what I do.Now and then it seems that life is just too much. But you've got the love I need to see me through.:j :j0 -

sorry, I feel bad for having a rant now:o
They (and I) are very grateful and were perfectly nice to the engineer, who did confirm when they asked that lagging would help. Sadly they hadn't known the advice before, otherwise they would have done something about it.
The rant wasn't aimed in any way at the engineer, but at the lack of delivery on the promise on monday morning that because of their age and ill health issues someone would come within 24 hours, so they'd refused to leave the house to come somewhere warmer, then 36 hours later, were just told someone would come tomorrow. If they had been told it wouldn't have been until today in the first place, or even been given an update to say someone's not going to make it, they might have been convinced to leave to go somewhere warmer. Anyway I will leave it at that as I do feel chastised, :osorry:oSaverJ - Don't be daft, I read it as you being (quite rightly) cross with the service provider, not you having a go at the individual engineer. I think Greenbee was just suggesting that we all need to remember not to shout at the front line people which I totally agree with. The last delivery driver who came here was telling me how stressful it was dealing with the abuse he personally got when things got there late, a situation completely beyond his control.
And yes, all these people ARE being paid, but some of them feel that they have to take the extra work when they'd rather be with their families (or driving in this weather).
Trying to get hold of the hospital to book an appointment... have made one batch of chocolates - not sure how they'll come out, as I haven't used silicon moulds before. Also, its a bit cold in here, so the chocolate sets almost instantaneously0 -

Well as predicted, the energy ran out, and I ended up falling asleep in bed with Ebony at around 11.30am. Got up around 12 to answer the door to MIL, went back to bed, and got up at around 2pm.
Heard a thud on the doormat, and ran to see what it was expectantly, and found my flylady Christmas cards. SO, a BIG THANK YOU to Natty68 for being postmistress - I know you were worried that they may not reach us before Christmas, which wouldn't have mattered anyway, but it looks like quite a few people have received their's today, so well done and relax now! Also, a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who sent Moon and I cards. Have left them in a pile on the sofa so he can look through them when I've picked him up from work. Serena and LadyL I hope I got the spelling of your DS (P) the right way round - apologies if I didn't - I had a mind blank as to which was which.
Well I'm off to find a drink and some food, as I now have the hiccups. Suppose I'd better pop my trainers on and go and get the washing sorted first too or I'm never going to achieve my target of getting it all done today.
Hugs all around.

I have got some silicon moulds to have a play with too. I made some salted caramel truffles earlier, the bowl scrapings are lovely.
The boys and I are going to make the gingerbread house later - it was all of £1.49 for a complete dr. oetkers kit in H&B. DS2 wants to make a chocolate cake as always .
Logs are in and drying, next load is in the WM, and DS1 has emptied the DW :A. They want to wrap thier presents now. They have worked hard bringing logs in and doing jobs for me to earn money to buy presents, and they are very proud of their efforts.
