Kazwookie lovely to hear from you, hope the trip is going well
Ashia please do let JayJay know she is missed and I hope she is well x
:rotfl: soappie easy mistake to make, unfortunately WIL is still within 5 miles *yes her house is that close and she doesn't come to see the boys* actually she phoned today .... To tell DP she was throwing out some things she left there and demand he took her shopping to which he said no you have 3 cars DIY! That was after she ranted at him for being in bed, which has nothing to do with her. Then she said well he would have to do her Christmas shopping for her, asked what she wanted, clothes for herself and was told again .......no. Then as an empty gesture asked what the children wanted - I say empty she doesn't usually bother buying anything despite asking....... See told you I would end up ranting! Anyway I think she is learning we've had enough at last.
Right need to get a wriggle on. Car to move and path to clear to make dragging stuff I need rid of to the garage easier as our binmen don't collect if it's snowing ..... They're due tomorrow so I guess we won't see them now until at least new year. Then in addition to sorting downstairs I need to sort DPs Dad's house, then finish our Christmas shoppingOne day I might be more organised...........

hello
Thanks for the tip on the boiler AnW's Mum, that was exactly the problem, apparently it is a design fault with condensing boilers and there have been at least 20,000 call outs to BG for this problem this year alone. Unfortunately my parents didn't manage to get it going again themselves though and after they had been without heat for over 36 hours, refusing to come to my house because they had been told the person would come yesterday, and no sign still at 7pm, an irate phone call was made about 2 pensioners being promised a call out, and then being told it would be today, BG were told in no uncertain terms that that was not good enough and someone arrived to fix it at 8pm last night. So that's one worry sorted.
Hugs (gentle ones for Mumto5)and spoons to all in need. And hope those who were celebrating the winter solstice had a lovely day yesterday, especially the LWs.

They have also been providing advice for several years on condensing boilers and ensuring the condensate pipe is lagged (mine has pipe lagging on in both inside and outside and I've been OK so far).
Finally got the work done I needed to last night after reflexology and shopping... two and a half hours of very productive work with an idiot man who doesn't have any recollection of what he said after his car crash on Friday, and has apparently been very worried by my emails and IMs over the last couple of days (detached and professional...). This emerged after we'd finished working when he mentioned that if the heating in his ex-wife's house was fixed today (looks like it won't be now, it's half done) then he was going back to the flat today and then down to see his parents as his mum is ill and that's where they're all supposed to be for christmas. So we've agreed to leave things and talk once christmas etc are safely out of the way. It has made me rethink a few things though...
I left a message for the GP yesterday saying that the referral would be covered by my health insurance, and could I please have a private referral and then the details of where I was referred. Got a voicemail 'this is the doctor returning your call' so need to call back. I wasn't impressed with him when I went to the surgery, so will try one more time, and then will ask to speak to someone else.
Fire is very slow to get going this morning, so I haven't achieved as much work as I'd have liked. Need to get on and get it done. I have a very busy afternoon with client calls, and then tonight I MUST get on with putting up christmas decorations, making chocolates, wrapping and clearing up!0 -
Greenbee - stress makes people do some very strange things but he really is messing with your head, deliberately or not. I hope things get sorted out soon.
Lady L - thinking of you, hope you and your DS have a lovely day.
I have a wonderful number of birds today - thoroughly enjoying myself watching. My second ever spotting of a woodpecker here :j. I am very lucky in that we have a mature crab apple, several pyracanthas and a huge sorbus absoliutely smothered in berries so lots of food naturally even before I put more out, and a big bowl of warm water.
Our bedding is in the WM, various bits of stuff have made it in and out of the freezer, and I am going to go through the fridge and veg basket and sort things out. Need to make my truffles before the cream goes off.
We actually have quite a bit of snow that came last night so no supermarket delivery, and no landrover as DH has taken it. We walked to get some milk and it was nice to see a complete lack of panic buying.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Kids all being roped in to help, and so far are very willing, two out delivering cards, one making pancake mix, ironing put away by them.
Need to clean the grate, hoover it, empty hoover bag and then finish hoovering moping downstairs then I'll make the pancakes for the boys lunch. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
