sorry, I feel bad for having a rant now:o
They (and I) are very grateful and were perfectly nice to the engineer, who did confirm when they asked that lagging would help. Sadly they hadn't known the advice before, otherwise they would have done something about it.
The rant wasn't aimed in any way at the engineer, but at the lack of delivery on the promise on monday morning that because of their age and ill health issues someone would come within 24 hours, so they'd refused to leave the house to come somewhere warmer, then 36 hours later, were just told someone would come tomorrow. If they had been told it wouldn't have been until today in the first place, or even been given an update to say someone's not going to make it, they might have been convinced to leave to go somewhere warmer. Anyway I will leave it at that as I do feel chastised, :osorry:o
The one who fixed mine last Wednesday had been to a call out until 3am and was here, as his first job at 10:30am.. he was REALLY pleased as he is not on call over christmas or new year and working at double time means he will get a significant pay packet next month.. don't feel bad about ranting they ARE being paid for their time!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

saver-j - interested in that, as our neighbours have been without heat and hot water since the weekend. Their boiler is newly installed, so still under guarantee, and the earliest the engineer can come is Thursday, despite them being apparently top of the priority list as the 86 year old disabled mother lives there. I have invited them over, but so far they have said no.
I've been to the hairdressers, and decluttered overgrown hair - and DS 2 as well. Then got petrol, and managed to find exactly what I wanted for DD in TKMaxx - can't put it on here, she checks up on me!
Lunch now, then food shopping in Sainsbury. There are cars queuing out onto the road, so am expecting to take quite a while...
lady-liberty love and hugs, and wishing you a day of happiness with your DS on his 21st.
greenbee - sending you all my very best wishes. (ps you'd like DD's present!!;):D)
Love and hugs to toots, and Lamewolf and all our other poorlies. It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -
I bought a laptop case/ briefcase thing for OH as his was taken when his van got broken into......thought I was being good ordering it early and it arrived and is very nice.....he informed me yesterday that he has been given one already!!! Return date been and gone!!! I also bought some shirts from Debenhams online, they are not nice and I have not been able to get into Cardiff to return them!!! He will have to have them and lump it!!! I am going to try and get to Next/ marksies tomorrow and get the last few bits.
Really not feeling the Christmas spirit at the mo but trying my best for DD.
Need to find some online gift tags that I can print off as I cannot find any in the co-op or chemist that go with the wrapping paper....yes, I am that fussy!!!!
ETA....I am soooo selfish......hugs and thoughts for all the poorlies and those with no heating/ hot water xx0 -
SaverJ - Don't be daft, I read it as you being (quite rightly) cross with the service provider, not you having a go at the individual engineer. I think Greenbee was just suggesting that we all need to remember not to shout at the front line people which I totally agree with. The last delivery driver who came here was telling me how stressful it was dealing with the abuse he personally got when things got there late, a situation completely beyond his control.
Soup made and eaten, just freezing the veg we do have so I can pad it out over the next few days.
Our bedding dry and ready to put back on the bed. Need to get the next lot in but it is f-f-freezing up there. Also need to get more logs in whilst I can still get to the woodpile.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0
