I also recieved a letter. What i cannot understand they are trying to cut costs then send thousands if not millions of these letters out and we still recieve the same payment over the year so why bother more waste

to stop people ringing the severly understaffed helpline when people check there bank and wonder if they are suppposed to have the payment or whether its a mistake.
  • I had the letter today. Im a single mum, work full time, no childcare element or disability. Would love to know what this is all about.
  • Just to warn people who should get child tax payments on a Tuesday that next tuesdays payment that should go in today(Christmas eve) has not gone in for me so check your accounts.

Have they had a Problem or something?

are they open today(Christmas eve) as was banking on the payment today.

You could be right but i have had some Debit card payment show up on my account that went on there about 3am this morning so they have seem to have done some things but just not add funds to peoples accounts!!!!
  • We get £238.60 per week paid on a Monday. (CTC)

Yesterday (thursday) we received that amount which presumably is the payment for this coming bank holiday.

Yet today, we received a further payment of £238.36

We have not had a letter yet
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
  • Just got my letter, haven't seen an extra amount yet though.
  • I got the letter a few days ago.

I DO get the disability element.

I get paid on a Tuesday and my next Tuesday's payment went in today but no extra payment.

I live in hope as I am seriously broke!!

I know it will mean a bit less for the remainder of the year but I will jsut have to manage.

Just received a letter from tax credits saying that i will be receiving a payment from now til end January because they are making changes to there system . anyone else got the letter

Hiya Susieanne,Yes I got this letter last Friday, they say you will get an extra payment on a different day to your normal payments and your reg payments will be slightly lower to April 2011,They say you DO NOT have to pay this back but if you think about it why are your payments going to be lower until April?? It is an extra payment but like anything to do with the selfish Govenment you have to pay it back whether its there doing or not thats why future payments will be 'Slightly lower' hope that helps!

You are not paying it back through lower payments until April though as you will receive exactly the same amount over the year, your award covers the whole year and in theory they could pay you monthly, quarterly or as a one off payment as long as you get the same amount in total.
