is everyone getting these letters or just a few? as we have not had one yet.0

You are not paying it back through lower payments until April
Actually your statement above is incorrect !
If claimants receive this one of random payment from tax credits which the letter refers to then payments between now and April 2011 will be reduced to take this one of payment into account !The loopy one has gone :j0 -

What he is saying is at the end of the tax year you would of still recieved exactly what you were entitled to.
If your award is for £1000 that is what you will get, its just the way it was originally scheduled to be paid to you will alter slighty to take into account the system throwing out this one off payment of your entitlement that wasnt taken into account when the payment schedule was first calculated.
You just have to keep thinking about your yearly entitlement, tax credits is calculated on the tax year and so if your weekly/4weekly changes because of a one off payment it just simply means the system then looks at how much of your yearly entitlement is left to pay you and how many weeks left in the tax year, so obviously your payments will reduce because you will of had you normal payment and this one off payment in the space of 1 week week.
I recieved this letter a few days ago and it does specifically say because the system is being updated you may recieve an unexpected payment into your account and there is no need to call about the payment hense the letter being sent, they cannot tell who will get the payment but if you do you can spend it as its part of your yearly entitlement.0 -

DAN - As you will see it is this ^^^^^^ statement that i said was incorrect (as it is incorrect).
The poster is saying that if someone does receive this one off payment the letter refers to , they will still receive the same payments between now and renewal.
This would imply that claimant will recieve extra money when this is not the case.
If an extra payment is received then payments will be reduced from now until April !
I have recieved the letter and i know what it says. The loopy one has gone :j0 -
no what the poster is trying to say is your not paying it back, you've had your payment earlier than first scheduled and at the end of the tax year you will of had your full entitlement, if you carried on having your usual weekly payments plus the one off payment you would then get overpaid. The poster IS responding to an earlier post that you can see he/she has quoted, they were stating you have to pay it back even though the letter states you do not, he/she is merely trying to point out the award is calculated on the tax year not a week by week basis therefore as its not the end of the tax year you still have the rest of your award to be paid to you. Its basically re-adjusting your payments, your weekly/4weekly amount may change but you will still get exactly the same by the end of the tax year.
Maybe your interpreting what the poster is saying differently but I understand the point he is trying to make by looking at the quote he/she is referrencing - your not paying anything back, its your entitlement, not an overpayment, if you interpreted that as the poster saying your payments are going to stay the same then that is where we have interpreted what he/she is saying differently but I think the point they are trying to stress is your not paying it back, your entitled to it so if you were to pay it back they'd owe you the money, you've had 2 payments in 1 week isntead of just the usual 1 therefore your future payments may change slightly to take into account of that (its usually a pound or two difference depending on how much is left to be paid to you) It does confuse some people when they hear about payments going down they assume the worst and that they are missing out, they are not, they forget that they will actually get 2 payments in a week instead of their usual 1, and then whatever is left gets divided up.
I have recieved the letter also and I can categorically state I know what it says and have seen it happen more times than ive had hot dinners.0 -

Now the banks are back to normal ! Was just wondering if anyone had received any EXTRA payment yet? If so what kind of amount compared to your normally weekly payment? and how long in between receiving your letter and payment ?
Thanks0
