anyone got a letter from tax credits about an extra payment

I think the only people who can tell you for sure are the tax credit people. I also received a letter before Xmas but have not received any extra payment, was it for a lot more than your normal award? Hope you get it sorted, I've been following this thread with interest0

Opposite for me - I had the extra payment in October (and subsequent reduced payments) but no letter!0 -

Was that just a random extra payment or a payment as a result of a change of circumstances?
I had the letter telling me I might get an extra payment ... then rang and informed them I had started work and was told I might get another extra payment as the system sometimes generates them after changes.
Edited to add: No extra payments at all yet thoughAugust GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61

It was random. No changes in circumstances. In fact it's what brought me to this forum - was wondering if anyone else had the same. When I got the subsequent payments it was obvious that the total over the year was going to be the same so I didn't worry.0 -

Could it have been a payment they owed you from last year? Normally when they make a payment, you get a new schedule which shows reduced payments for the remainder of the year.
In the past, the only totally random payments I have had from them, which hasn't reduced my future payments, was as a result of an underpayment and the completion of last years award ... and as a result of a mistake from them! :rotfl:August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61

I get them every year on renewal. They pay what you're owed to the date of the renewal and then the subsequent payments change.
It is definitely not extra money because the subsequent payments were reduced and assuming they continue at the same rate the year's totals will be identical to the penny to what they would have been.0 -
Apologies, I read your post wrong and thought you meant the payments for the remainder of the year would be the same ... ie. not affected by the extra payment.August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61

However, my bank called me around an hour ago as a courtesy call to ask if I was aware that a large amount was being paid by WFTC and is sitting as a BACS payment ready to credit my account in the morning (and to try to get me to open a savings account). I said that I was aware there may be a payment, but didn't know how much. She told me and I nearly fell off my chair! Its a fortune and am now really worried as its more than what is due between now and April. I've just spent the last 45 minutes trying to call the Tax Credits "helpline" only to repeatedly get a message saying they are busy and to try later. Has anyone else had this happen? I don't know whether to think the Lloyds call was some sort of elaborate hoax (no, I didn't give away any sensitive info, just standard security and they knew details about my accounts that I think only my bank could possibly know). If its right, then have they made a mistake?? It could really turn things around for me if its all above board, but I can see a sleepless night looming worrying about it!
have your circumstances changed this year at all as it could be the xtra you are due?Make £11,000 in 2011 / ebay £6000 -
I didn't get the letter but i have received two payments.
One in on the 17th Dec and taken back on the 29th December and another in today.
I dont get tax credits nor have i put in a claim. I did claim several years ago but they were so incompetent and messed up so badly i never claimed again. They originally put over £800 each month in my account that wasn't mine. Luckily for me i didnt touch it so when they demanded it back (despite saying it was definately right) i still had the money sitting there. I requested copies of what they had and some bright spark and keyed my earnings incorrectly.
So today I called them ( it was an experience)after talking to three different people three lots of security checks two disconnections I was told it was from 2005??
Then he said he couldn't explain why and ended the call?:mad:0
