I have to laugh at the gift bags as its not embarrassing just i thought completely normal. I have even been known to give a friend a gift bag and hint want it back for my birthday a few months later! I got it back as well.

My ex would only eat a certain brand of cereal so i bought one box then bought the cheapest economy one could find and put it in the box. For three years he never knew and ate it every morning for his breakfast.

I too got bought some Moulton Brown handwash and hand lotion a few years and pound stretcher does a similar smelling hand wash and lotion for £1.00 each so i top the bottles up and everyone literally who comes to my house tells me how wonderful the Moulton brown smells.

I always borrow the pens if i pop into Argos so you'll always find a few kicking around here at home.

If i do a roast for friends i buy one of the three for £10.00 chickens, and then still use economy stuffing, yorkshires, bacon wrapped round sausages etc and if i offer someone a roast they accept like a shot and tell me how wonderful it was. Sometimes it costs less than £5.00 to do for about 6 people but doesn't look or taste like it.

If my parents or brother are ever throwing anything away i ask for it and either use it or sell it (ie my brother had an old electric cooker he was going to dump. I got £40 on ebay for it.)

None of this i see as embarrassing, i am just doing what i have to do to survive and things are only going to get worse.

Not at all! It foams as much as regular laundry liquid although I use a slightly less amount in the drawer.

For 28p a litre, it's shockingly economical but effective! Soap is soap whatever the form it takes.

I have to try this! could it be cheaper than gloop though?

:) It's high noon on Sunday and a girl's mind turns to roast dinners. I adore roast beef and it's fine as a cold cut, but......there is another way, if you have leftover lovely rich gravy still in the jug.

:) Save the gravy in the fridge for the next day and pour over sliced beef in a shallow dish in a meduim oven. I swear this trick will revive 2 or even 3 day old cold beef into another hot dinner. Can't claim the credit for it as it was devised by the mother of a friend.

:D GQ philosophy; see a good idea and steal it!
I slice leftover beef (thinly with an electric slicer ;)) then pour leftover gravy over it and freeze it. I've got some foil containers that I use for this because it means they can go straight in the oven, the foil containers can be washed and re-used too.

If you've got some frozen leftover roasties, yorkshire puds and veg you've got a ready made roast!

We had left over roast pork for dinner made this way (cooked again in gravy) except we had it over chips, mmm!

I use plastic gloves from the garage for dying my hair ;)

My husband does that too, the gloves in the packet aren't large enough for his hands!

My mate uses value washing up liquid to wash his hair, I can't say I do that now but can remember having my hair washed in it as a kid. My partner hasn't worked out that our shower gel is cheap value stuff decanted into another bottle.
If I do a stew in the slow cooker the left over gravy is put in the freezer for next time.
I have often worn a dressing gown through out the day when its only myself in the house as its cheaper than putting the heating on.

Not so embarrassing but instead of buying a bouquet of flowers for a family member's birthday I make my own bouquet from a cheap flower stall off the market (oh how I wish I could grow lovely flowers in my garden but all of the spare room is took up with veg plots). They never know the difference.

My partner uses so many tea bags up. At the moment I make him a pot of tea from one tea bag, it lasts longer as usually he makes continuous cuppas when he is at home. I remember my mum telling me it was perfectly posible to make 4 cups of tea without using a tea pot from one tea bag, it was just the skill of knowing when the bag was about to rip.
Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.

I was given a good moneysaving tip yesterday, for those of us who are well endowed up top, don't waste money buying lacy chemise to cover our 'excess' use the top of old knickers, cut off the waistband & 3 or 4 inches below, discard the crotch & back. Sew this into the neckline of any tops that are too low to wear on their own.
    Hester

Or if you can sew, make some of these:

Does anyone else use their makeup in a 'break the rules' kinda way?

I only have one blusher so if I am wearing a lipstick which would clash, I simply use the same lippy applied to my cheeks as a cream blusher! Works really well and saves space in your makeup bag. I also use my highlighted eyeshadow (a pearly white) applied to the top of my lippy on the centre of the lower lip. Makes your lips appear fuller and more glossy. I use the same shade on the top of my 'cheekbones'.. Oh if only I had some for real!

It is a good idea if money is tight. Makeup is basically playing with colour. We are a little too brainwashed by the adverts really. Experiment and let us know how you go on.

Anyone else got any embarrassing confessions along the cosmetic line?

Oh, just thought... I used to work with someone who used talc as a 'dry' shampoo when time was short!
