Me and my husband are currently at home waiting for a kindle from Amazon and my sons is at my sisters house waiting for us to come - the reason - we paid £7 to get it so it was here today and we could go and be with my son but because Amazon have f**ked up we are apart from our son waiting another day for the kindle

We will be getting our postage costs back and I DO NOT recommend paying £7 as it hasn't got us anywhere.

I'm not normally this angry about things but I'm very upset at the moment I should be starting my christmas holidays with my family instead I'm waiting for Amazon to get their act together.

Oh dear, that does not bode well for me

I hope you get it soon :) I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get it in time =/

The extra cost for expediated delivery as amazon call it is fast delivery from the day it is dispatched not from the order date. If its any help the 3G one £149 is getting delivered much faster as it is in stock in the warehouse. Spoke to customer services yesterday. Hope this helps.

Going off post here but I am having real problems with my Amazon orders, stuff ordered on the 30th November still hasn't arrived!! no sigh of stuff ordered later either, anyone else having problems? It's not like we are snowed in here, unless Amazon are re routing all there stuff through Glasgow just for the fun of it!!
    Slightly bitter
  • i have the amazon prime for 4.99 per month so i get multiple free 1 day deliveries as i do order a lot form amazon.

the £7 for the one day delivery is from the day of shipping not order as amazon cannot do special delivery at the moment as royal mail cant guarantee next day delivery,

my dh ordered a kindle last thursday and it arrived yesterday by free super saver delivery

cancel the order and sign up to a 30 free prime trial and then you get the free delivery

Argh!I decided to splash out on a Kindle for my Christmas present this year but only left it until earlier this week to order since I was worried that if it turned up too early I'd end up opening it before Christmas (hehe :p) but now it turns out it might be too late. I ordered it with free super-saver delivery and it estimates a 23-31st delivery (it's, essentially, not gonna arrive on time with it). The Kindle has a dispatch estimate of 20th-24th. The last day for 1st class posting is the 21st so I'm unsure what to do. I've got these options:
    1. Stay with free shipping and get it sometime after Christmas (likely after new years)
    2. Get 1st class delivery for £5.80 and hope that it is dispatched before the 21st, meaning I'll get it on time according to Royal Mail.
    3. Pay for £7 expedited shipping which means I could get it within 1-2 days of dispatch, making it more likely I'll get it on time.
It's only a present for myself but I really don't want to end up with nothing on Christmas day! Is it worth getting the extra shipping or not? Show me the way MSE Forums! <3

I hope you get your order, I find Amazon very unreliable in December.
Through out the year I have no problems with orders but over the past years they have let me down at least three times by not sending the goods, so now I never order from them in the three weeks before Christmas.
Is Amazon the cheapest can you buy it elswhere? bear in mind more snow is predicted and many places are now on the last few days of guaranteed delivery by Christmas Eve.
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.
  • hmm, I am currently waiting for an order from Amazon too. It says it was dispatched and estimated delivery date was 14th, but no sign yet. Still have a week to go- I too live in hope!!

Your orders may have got stuck in Scotland. I`ve just received a parcel this morning that was ordered on 3rd December. It was dispatched on 5th December with an estimated delivery date of 8th December and it arrived today.

Is there tracking available on your order?

    Hope it arrives soon

There's hope for my order then. That's exactly what it says for my tracking reference, although the Royal Mail site tells me it was accepted into their distribution centre on the 9th December. Apparently Royal Mail site is updated regularly but it hasn't changed since last week for my tracker reference :(.

Son told me not to use Amazon - wish I'd listened to him now :(

Another item I ordered at the same time, from a seller on Amazon, was delivered on time...........except it was the wrong item  Now they want me to return it, scan & email the certificate of postage and when they receive it they will send me the correct item  Maybe it will have to be son's birthday present in June instead of his Christmas present :rotfl:

I am a Prime member which, I mistakenly believed, meant I got next day delivery on 'Prime eligible' items. Wrong. I currently have, wait for it, five items ordered over the last two weeks that are at between 3 and 14 days late. I live in London - no snow here. Amazon have got some big problems that they are struggling to hide.

If I were you I would not order anything from Amazon for Xmas delivery because there is a very real chance, even with next day delivery selected and paid for, that your item will not arrive and Amazon's customer services aren't handling it very well.

Snow in Scotland is hardly a rarity is it yet that seems to be their excuse. They must be losing £millions in refunds.
