I emailed Amazon a couple of days ago regarding an order that should have been delivered on Tuesday, they didn't reply so I emailed them again yesterday asking where my order is.

Trying to get through on the phone is a nightmare so as I still hadn't had a reply this morning i went to email them yet again but was met with a message saying they are experiencing delays replying to emails

Why on earth should there be a delay replying to emails?

So good luck getting a speedy reply from them.

Up until now I've always had decent service from Amazon, seemingly they can't cope when we get a bit of snow :(

A delay in replying to emails because there are probably hundreds - thousands of other people who are all panicking that their parcels haven't arrived!!

If the item has been dispatched then it is not Amazons fault that it hasn't arrived yet! Couriers, and royal mail are all saying that they have backlogs, Patience is of course needed even though that doesn't help with the fact your parcels haven't arrived!!

Also the last comment about Amazon not being able to cope with snow?? how do you work that out? this will probably be one of their busiest times of years for orders, and on top of that they have so many people calling up about their missing/delayed orders. The fault is due to the snow fall a couple of weeks ago which caused a backlog of deliveries from the couriers/royal mail, I dont see how this is Amazons fault if they dispatched it!

  • Well I've had nothing but good experiences with Amazon. I ordered a selection of items last Friday and paid an extra £5ish for next day delivery (thinking this would probably be Monday) - every item arrived the next morning. I also ordered an item on Wednesday this week, with free Supersaver delivery and estimated delivery of 21st-23rd December - it arrived this morning. I think many of the problems are with the local delivery depots, and also the weather, rather than Amazon directly. I must be lucky to be in an area served by a more reliable delivery depot.

Amazon decide in their infinite wisdom how to dispatch items, I recently ordered 4 items with them, 1 was sent via City Link, 1 with HDN & 2 with Royal Mail, 1 Recorded & the other standard delivery - I have an Amazon Prime account so please don't say "well you chose the delivery method". Amazon Prime is promoted as "1 day delivery", and although they don't "guarantee" next day delivery most items do arrive the next day.

Perhaps then you can explain why an item ordered on 9/12 is yet to arrive & is coming by Royal Mail untrackable post, yet 2 items ordered on 11/12 arrived on tuesday 14/12? :D

In addition to this, I ordered another item on sat 11/12 & as it hadn't arrived by 15/12 I emailed them & they replied within 12 hours saying something had "gone awry" with the order & without asking they re-ordered the item & dispatched it the same day. It arrived today, but the original item hasn't arrived.

I'm not slating Amazon by any means, but clearly they have problems. This experience is not going to stop me using them in the future :)

My Kindle has been dispatched, sent with Royal Mail (eek!). I can't track it so I can't tell where it's being shipped from but I can hope... I can hope :(
  • my items from amazon arrived today, i ordered them on tuesday evening, i have had a really good service form them, im still waiting for a order from zavvi though, could be a while
  • I ordered from Amazon two weeks ago and the items were supposedly dispatched on the 9th, still no word. I have tracked them to a Scottish distribution centre and they have been there since the 11th. I have tried to phone Amazon and all I get is a recorded message to call back in 2 to 3 hours. I have emailed them 3 times and no reply. I live in Scotland. Don't know if they will be here in time for xmas or not.

Exactly the same as me! Ordered two things and they've been sat in Scotland for 5 days :(

I do think it depends on the courier whether they'll arrive before christmas...Mines Royal mail so I'm not holding out much hope lol.

Think I might have to pop into town and buy them just incase. I'm not mad at amazon or RM though... I just think if Amazon are having such a nightmare they should have stopped orders being dispatched from Scotland and let you know that they couldn't fulfill your order ready for christmas... Amazon were the cheapest but I wouldn't have minded going else where if it meant i had something to give my nan for christmas :rotfl:
  • I had issues with amazon two years running with orders taking forever to arrive (one took 5 weeks and arrived two weeks after xmas) so last year and again this year i made the first week in november the online cut-off with ordering with them. I ordered around 15 items and they all arrived in under a week. Sometimes it hurts the wallet to order earlier than you'd like but amazon are so unreliable come mid november-dec. The rest of the year i can't fault them.

I used to have a lovefilm account and i canceled them in dec as the mail was so slow and i was lucky to get one delivery a week/fortnight. Blockbuster worked out cheaper in the long run that month.
  • I too ordered stuff from amazon,at the beginning of December. The first batch arrived within 2 days,i was impressed :)however,am still waiting on the 2nd lot. Makes life difficult not knowing whether to go and buy other presents,or just cross everything and hope it arrives in time for the big day.:(
