the magistrate won't mind that you have a disregard for the law, he will probably pat you on the back, tell you not to do it again and send you on your way.
That only happens to burglars, muggers, shoplifters and young offenders.
Clearly doing 37 in a 30 is significantly worse, especially if it was one of those urban 30 mph dual carriageways that segregate pedestrians and cyclists.0 -
To be honest I am not upset or annoyed at people judging me on here, I just dont want to have to wade through their self-righteous !!!! to find the useful posts.0

And Lum, it was a dual carriegway for two of them.0

Figures, my GF got done for 36 in a 30 on one of those in Bristol at midnight (and her speedo is actually accurate, which always amazes me on a 16 year old car that has the clocks from a 20 year old car fitted). Used to be a 40 but they just removed the signs and called it a 30. For bonus points neither the NIP or the reminder were actually delivered so the first we heard of it was a court summons 6 months later.
OTOH, this combination of posts that just happened on the index page did amuse me:0 -
I don't understand why you only replaced 3 tyres when the 4th was obviously on the way out.
My own view is that anyone who has 12 points shouldn't be allowed to drive.0 -
Thats how natural selection starts...
Not at all natural if you are the one he chunters into :mad:You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0 -
You must have alot of fingers then. How many HGV's run up and down or roads? At least 9 of them will be checked daily.;)
HGVs are a special case, they need to make sure their tyres are in a suitable condition for squashing cyclists. Just like bus drivers have to make sure the indicator & steering wheel interface is working, so they know to pull out after half a wink, and white van man has brushed up newly invented profanities.
But normal car drivers checking their car everyday...0 -
And the third i should have fought as it was in the country where there was a tiny stretch of 30mph amognst nationl speed limit roads. I turned onto it halfway along and there was no sign in view telling me the limit had changed. The reason it was 30 was because there was a pub on that stretch which made it a built up area. I passed the pub at 25 mph as I am not some maniac behind the wheel that everyone seems to want to label me. I sped up to nearly 40 thinking it was a 60 and a police officer was waiting, funnily enough at the point where it turns back into a 60. I feel I was unfortunate on this occasion, but I am sure others will disagree.0

And I didnt replace the 4th as I was advised there was plenty of life left in it. I dont want to push this though as the garage i take the car to for pre-MOT checks is a relation. Unfortunately.0
