Think people are being harsh judging this guy. He's admitted his faults, it's now up to the law to judge him, he was only asking what to expect, any way round it etc. I hope you don't lose your job etc, as a result of this, but i think you maybe need to use the experience to teach yourself a hard lesson in thinking before you act (speed, seatbelt etc). good luck

    Harsh but fair.

Take it on the chin and learn a lesson from it.

The alternative is we all tell him what he wants to hear and give him false hope.

And what exactly is it I want to hear? I am only looking for advice for my predicament. Rubbing it in is neither helpful or necessary.

Your OP asked for suggestions, not what to expect.

I suggest you learn from your mistakes.

    I expect you'll get a short ban.

What job do you do which will be affected by your car?

Dont think the hardship argument will cut it? A solicitor I just spoke to said that as there was obviously no shirking of responsibilities (3 new tyres and faulty one replaced swiftly) and that i only had an MOT 8 weeks ago, there might be a chance of contacting the Police and nipping it in the bud. Argument being is it really a good use of public money and endangering somebodys livelyhood? Any thoughts on this?

Well the op is far from a saintly driver but at least had an MOT and Insurance (I bet they checked that too) which by today's standards is actually quite impressive!

I wouldn't waste any more time here, for the common man any attempt at fighting this sort of thing is a non-starter. To be honest instead of taking the flack here you would be better off using your online time researching how best to sell your car and alternative ways to get to work, bus timetables, trains, season tickets, weekly passes, discount cards and so on. you should be able to survive a few months ban really, unless your courier!

Exactly... I do wonder if all those people criticising him are such saintly drivers who dont even go 1mph above the speed limit? I doubt it very much.

I have a death wish, a shortage of common sense and total disregard for the law. But I don't want lecturing, just advice on how I further postpone the inevitable....
