Ok, thanks you guys... am going to go for it! Had a slight panic when I got back from my lunch break to discover they had all sold out, but had put one in my basket this morning (while I was dithering about it!) and the fabulous website has remembered it! So can place order.
Will let you know how I get on. Seems a brilliant bargain to me...Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 5500 -
If anyone is interested, the Stainless Steel fastbake breadmaker is half price in Argos's sale which starts today. Since MR website seems to be out of stock at the moment, this seems like a good option at less than £35.
HTH someone!0 -
Thanks Nell2 :A
I have reserved mine at a nearby Argos to be paid for using PMS - saved another £12.43 on shop promos today0 -
Having gorgeous toasted raisin and cinnamon bread for brekkie this morning. DH is well impressed and DD loves it too.
I got in about midnight after visiting a friend last night and thought that I'd try another loaf, (only having tried the basic white since my purchase on Wednesday), and my tired brain hadn't thought it out properly: firstly I started measuring the ingredients of raisin bread into the pan. I was expecting to leave it and wake up to fresh bread this morning - forgot that I'd have to wait up to put raisins in and wouldn't be able to put it on timer because I would have to put raisins in. Also I put it on a 2lb loaf instead of 1 and a half. (told you my brain wasn't working!)
Anyway, half expected burnt and soggy bread this morning as cycle would of finished about 3am and I wasn't getting up to empty pan at that time! But, NO. Astonishingly I came down this morning and DH and DD were tucking into it big time0 -
Yes, I find it doesn't go too soggy either. Often put bread on at night without using the timer.
Reason being we are in such a rush in the morning I haven't got a couple of hours to let it cool to be able to slice it well enough for sandwiches.
Not quite as crisp, but still much better than shop bought bread !;)0 -
Fastbake Cooltouch BreadmakerProduct Number - 48280.......has anyone got one of these?
My Morphy Richards breadmaker has finally bitten the dust after 7 years. You may remember from my previous posts that this breadmaker wobbled off my worksurface and from then onwards i have only been able to use the dough setting....then the timer stopped working a few weeks ago and now it has finally decided to stop working altogether after being on ots last legs for so long.
This is so sad to me as i loved this bread maker as it made 2.5 lb loafs. The only bread maker i've found that is available now to make this sized loaf is the Anthony Worrell Thompson breadmaker. I have been searching the internet today and it has some pretty bad reviews.
Therefore i've decided to buy for the above breadmaker instead that makes a 2lb loaf (as i loved my old Morphy richards one).
Has anyone got one and would you recommend it?
Thank you all for your help in this decision.0 -

Thanks Pink-winged
I'm not sure how i missed that one...does it have a delay timer and does it have a dough setting (i love my pizza dough and making cobs).0 -

Yes, it does have a timer and dough setting and the drop down blade means a smaller hole in the finished bread.
There's a long thread about that machine here

Edit: To see all the functions you can take a look at the manual0 -
Thanks...i've ordered it for pick up later from argos
Can i ask another question? I've just looked at the manual (thanks) and i've noticed the recipes say sunflower oil. I've always used marg or butter, as the recipe in my old MR booklet states, is sunflower oil recommended now for some reason?..and have you tried using olive oil instead?0
