I noticed Sainsburys had some of the Fastbake for £29.99 last week. Might be worth trying there since they aren't available on the MR site at the moment.0

I am still in love with my breadmaker, but it is starting to get a bit tempremental.
Yesterday, when I was washing it, the paddle just fell to pieces - fortunately I had a spare which MR had sent because the one they'd sent originally was scratched. Then, this morning, I came down to find that the pan had 'jumped' out of its fixing. Thankfully, it had obviously happened late enough into the cycle that the bread was fine, but a bit of a worry nonetheless. This isn't the first time I've had trouble with the pan jumping - MR have already sent one replacement pan - but I hope this isn't going to be an ongoing problem. Will have to ring them again on Monday.
Has anyone else had problems with their machine? If so, did you find a cure?0 -
Russell Hobbs definitely uses different recipes!
Contact them for a new recipe book - it's a couple of quid.

Hi all,
I love my BM, I really do, I just have one teeny tiny question...
How in the world do I get the mixing blade out of the tin??? When I first started using the BM (a few weeks ago), everything was fine, however the last few loaves I have made I have literally almost been in tears trying to disconnect the blade from the tin. I have had a look in the troubleshooting bit of the manual and have, as per the instuctions there, poured boiling water over it, left it for 20 mins and I still can't get the damn thing out!!!
Can any experienced Bread Makers offer some advice to a newbie???
Thanks in advance,
Sarah xx
PS. I have the MR Fastbake model... don't know if it makes a difference, it's my first ever BM!!0 -
I use oil on mine to keep it moving, maybe soak in oil, don't waste it of course after soaking keep it to oneside for cooking etc. Boiling water is good if it's stuck in with foody bits stuck to it. If you soak it in water use cold water, metal expands slightly when warmer which would make it harder to move, only slightly but can make all the difference when somethings a tight fit. Could try popping it in the freezer for half and hour that might do it. If you put a cloth on your hand it's also easier to get hold of it.One day I might be more organised...........

I sometimes have trouble getting the paddle out of mine. I hold the metal bit underneath the pan and turn the paddle anti clockwise and that usually does it. I have had to send it up to the shed with the OH a couple of times when it got really siezed. Sorry I didn't ask him how he got it off. The other problem I have had is with the buttons for selection they have stopped working twice. Damp contact apparantly (he does have his uses) otherwise I would probably on my 3rd or 4th by now. I agree with whoever said don't use the quick cycle it comes out very dense and cakey. I have had it 4 years and only this week bought hovis yeast instead of sainsburys, and what a difference the bread and rolls rose much more and had an altogether better texture and taste.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I always oil the spindle and moving part on paddle with veg oil, (goes toward oil/butter in recipe) after cleaning the hole bit on the paddle with cotton wool bud.
Usually comes apart easily.
Used to have lots of problems with previous breadmaker - Sainsbury's Prima, I would not recommend that one! -, when I asked advice on a different thread then the oiling was suggested.
Thought it was a good habit to keep MR moving part working smoothly. Haven't had "jumping pan" yet, touch wood!0 -

Had problems but don't know any cures. My 1st MRFB only came on when it felt like it and a piece of rubber that's in the middle of the pan came out and ended up in one of my loaves then the metal prong bit came out completely after a few weeks. Got a replacment BM last sept and that works fine but the rubber bit in the pan has worked it's way out, so it's only a matter of time before this pan falls apart. Think I'm going to have email MR. Anyone else had this problem?0 -
Was gonna buy Allinsons Granary flour, then noticed it was just Wholemeal flour with wheat flakes added, but alot more expensive.
Has anyone tried adding wheat flakes to Wholemeal flour, and if so how much to add?0
