I've no idea why sunflower oil is recommended but I've had no problems substituting it with olive oil or butter.

I know! I couldn't wait for mine to arrive and was so excited when it came. I haven't been disappointed with it yet.....well only once when after a couple of glasses of wine I used self raising flour instead of bread flour!
I'll merge this thread with the fastbake thread later, if that's ok with you.

...do I have to use it - does everyone else use it where the recipe states? Got some effervescent ones, but previous post warned against it. Can I put squeeze of lemon instead??!0

Hi Nova5
I don't use it for my granary loaves (Hovis flour) (it rises quite wellenough, thank you very much). However, I have enormous trouble getting my wholemeal loaves to rise, so I add vit c to that (Hovis again).
Just trial and error, really. if you get particular loaves that don't seem to rise, add the vit c

I've never used Vitamin C. Mainly because like you I wasn't sure what kind to use and because my previous breadmaker recipes didn't ask for it.
On the 2lb loaf recipe I do replace 1 cup of wholewheat with 1 cup of strong white, read this somewhere on this forum, and it comes out quite well.
Don't know about the lemon, if you do try, let us know if it works.0 -
Well thanks to Pink-winged i picked up my MR fastbake breadmaker yesterday at 6pm and we sat eating it my first loaf with homemade gooseberry jam at 9pm. Love it love it love it....its fantastic to be able to bake bread in a breadmaker again!
Thank you again Pink-winge0 -
I love mine too! :j
Never had a breadmaker before and I'm amazed how nice the bread turns out.
We had a french loaf today set on the timer last night - the texture was just like french bread. I'm going to France in a couple of weeks and will pick up some bread flour and try that.
I'm deliberating about what recipe to try next
Any recommendations?0 -

Pizza!
Do some pizza dough, spread with passata (I mix mine with a squirt of ketchup and some herbs) and add your own topppings.
You'll never go to Pizza Hut again :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0
