I have a brilliant book called The Complete Bread Machine Cookbook by Sonia Allison. The recipes are great and she gives some useful tips. One thing she says though is to put the flour in the pan in two halves, do the liquids, put in halve the flour then do the dry stuff, then put in the rest of the flour then the yeast. I don't bother with that because I found it didn't make any difference, so I just put the flour in in one go. She does recommend though to leave the paddle in the bread until the bread is cool then remove it, as this stops tearing the loaf, also the paddle isn't so hot lol I do this and it does help :-) If you can get hold of her book, it's worth it, because she has some lovely recipes.

Just to let you know that car boot sales are great places to buy breadmakers. There are usually two or three for sale. I lost the paddle for my Morphy Richards Fastbake (think I chucked it out inside a stale loaf) but wasn't prepared to pay £8 or so for a replacement - I found a Breville breadmaker at a car boot and got it for £3.00! The paddle works in my Morphy Richards which was lucky but now I've got my favourite Morphy to bake bread in and a back up to make pasta dough in (I don't want to risk burning the motor out of the Morphy).

So if anyone is tempted to take up breadmaking, look around the boot sales for bargains. Mine has only been used once or twice - it looks immaculate!

Or try Freecycle - even better!

Got mine today :-) It arrived in very good condition, and I've made a loaf already. Using another recipe other than the accompanying recipe book because I find that has too much sugar in. The one I use uses hardly any. Very pleased with it though. It's brilliant.

Well, I did it - got the MR FB down off the cupboard, gave it a good clean and set it going this afternoon - well the weather was so bad, there was nothing else to do!
The kitchen smelt gorgeous, and the bread looks ok - not tasted it yet - will use it for "sandwidgins" for my 2 year old and myself tomorrow for our picnic -weather permitting - whilst my OH is at Wembley watching his beloved Derby win (we hope) the championship play off final!:j
Will let you know if it tastes ok

    Hi Tracey.

I find the fastbake loaf too crumbly and heavy but the others are ok. have you tried the trouble shooting guide in your manual?

It really doesn't keep (because it's not full of preservatives) so we eat half fresh and slice the rest for the frezzer and use it for toast. ;)

Have had mine a week now, its great.:T Just using the recipes from the manual for now, once I get back of mi hols I think I will experiment a little. I've got one problem tho-I can't cut it straight!:o I have tried diferent knives, cutting when its warm/cold, it doesn't make a difference. It starts out like a perfect slice, then either ends up being to thin or having a great lump at the botton. Any tips on cutting?

I bought a bread knife from Lakeland, it is great, even my visually impaired husband can now cut his own sandwiches straight...
