Was just wondering whether anyone had tried Tesco's strong white bread flour - it is a lot cheaper than Hovis, Allinsons etc. Think I'm going to be getting through a lot of flour, so am looking at which brands of flour work best.
(Am using the Doves Farm yeast which seems really good)

PS Made a pizza base in BM this evening which was really lovely!

Never use anything but Tescos and has worked fine with loaves, rolls, pizza dough and mixed fruit loaf. Thats all I've made

Quick question though for anyone who uses the Tescos ready bread mixes (if that makes sense) I think someone said you can use these and just add water just wondered how much water you added for the different types and what setting you use it on? Also what size loaf do they make? Thanks.

I've used a tesco bread mix and 1 pack can make 2 1lb loaves and 1 2lb loaf. It tells you on the pack how much water to add (i think it was 160ml for a 1lb loaf). I just used the normal setting (although this was in my old BM, my new MR is sat here in the box as I am not allowed to open it till my bday tomorrow:( )

I've had the MR for 3 weeks now and it's brilliant!

White bread, wholemeal bread, french bread all come out lovely. Never been eating so much bread before :o

Have tried to use a recipe from my previous rubbish Prima bread-maker for seeded white loaf which came out a bit heavy and wet. I think it is the yoghurt in the recipe that causes this.

My question:  to bake white loaf with lots of seeds, can I just substitute half a cup of flour for 1/2 a cup of seeds or do I need to make other adjustments?

Does anyone have a good recipe?

I just add half a cup of seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, sesame and linseed mixed together) to the MR basic recipe and don't remove any flour and it's lovely.

My youngest doesn't like the seeds in bread, so sometimes I grind them before adding them and because he can't see them he's none the wiser. ;)

I've made my first loaf on delay overnight and it was the best bread ever!! I was a bit sceptical thinking how can it come out if the flour sits in the water all night? But is was so soft and well risen, we all woke up to the smell, kids couldn't wait to get stuck in. I will make it overnight from now on I think. Husband asking at lunchtime if there is any left for him after work... Poor soul, could smell it before he went to work but didn't have any.
Just a bit worried about the carbs overload...

Am going to get back into my breadmaker. Keep forgetting to use it. But I've got a quick question. I'd like to make some Lemon & Lime marmalade and was wondering if anyone had a recipe I could use in my breadmaker.

Two weeks on, I still adore my breadmaker. Have bought some Tesco strong white bread flour which I mix with Dove Organic wholemeal and it makes a lovely loaf. However, it seems to rise a lot more than when I was using Hovis/Allinson flour. I'm reducing the yeast/sugar content little by little, but just wondered if anyone else has had this with these brands of flour?
