Can someone give me some advice on baking cheese and onion bread, please?
The recipe in the MR book says to use onion granules, just been to Sainsbury's but can't find anything like this
My questions is have any of you used proper normal fresh onions instead?
Seems like the logical solution to me, just wondered if anyone can advise me if I should use these raw, or give them a quick dry fry.... and roughly how much to use.
Thanks0 -

Made this quite a few times now, and you are right, Pink, it's lovely.
Have also added seeds to the Italian Herb bread recipe, without the herbs, this also works very well, comes out lighter and less sweet.
(OH finds basic recipe "a bit cakey" while I like the richer, denser texture)0 -
Hi all,
I am so excited, my Morphy Richards Fastbake breadmaker has just arrived!! :j
Am going to have a go at making some lovely home baked bread later today and I just wondered where it is best to buy the ingredients from? We have an Asda and a Morrisons within walking distance...
Any tips at this stage would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks and will let you know how it turns out!

Hi jovichick,
Congratulations on getting your breadmaker. It's a great feeling making your first loaf! I buy my ingredients from tesco and asda (usually own brand) depending on which is cheaper.
We have a thread specifically for the Morphy Richards breadmaker where you'll find lots of advice so I've added your post into it.

Thanks Pink!
Well, my first loaf has cooked and I must say tastes delicious :j
Am sure I'll be back with many questions before you know it lol
Thanks, Sarah xx0 -
Just bought a fastbake off of ebay. The machine cost £10.50 the postage was !1.50 lol. Still got a machine for £22.00, so I'm pleased with that. I already have a Morphy Richards, though not a fast bake. I have two because we a a large family, and get through quite a bit of bread. I did have a Brevil which I had for 10yrs whaich was a great machine, although didn't do cakes etc. It died on me a few months ago, so I thought I'd see how I'd get on with the one machine, but have decided I'd like another. Can't wait for it to arrive now :-)0

just found this thread today - spent ages reading it. I have had a MR FB machine for a few years but it currently sits redundant on top of a cupboard as I started to lose my rag with it when
1) couldn't get the blade out of the pan to wash - stuck fast
or
2) blade stuck in loaf
or
3) pan "popped" out of place in machine leaving a half mixed/cooked loaf
not sure what i did wrong, but all these recipes and tips are getting me excited and want to resurrect the machine although will need to pop to shops to buy ingredients as i fear my yeast and bread flour that i have left will be well out of date!0 -
Hi isaacsmum,
I love my MR fastbake. After reading the recommendations on this board I would probably have preferred a panasonic but didn't want to spend that kind of money only to relegate the machine to the back of a cupboard because I didn't use it.
In eight months of making bread on a daily basis my pan has popped out twice. I have no idea whybut both times I was there and heard it happen so was able to click it back in again and the bread was fine.
Quite often I find the paddle does get stuck in the bread.....what I do is get a pen or pencil and put it in the hole at the bottom of the paddle, give it a wiggle and it slides out easily. If your paddle does get stuck in the loaf it's best to get into the habit of taking it out immediately, otherwise it's easy to throw it out with the heel of the bread.....mentioning no names Haribo!
I've never had any problems with the paddle getting stuck but this thread might help you solve that: paddle is stuck in the breadmaker
I hope you do get it out and give it another go.
