I just wanted to say a big thankyou to whoever post about using the wholemeal setting for baking white bread. Over the past few weeks I have been experimenting to get the perfect loaf to wean hubby off warbutons :rotfl:

    My recipie:

Use the sandwich loaf recipie but use 2cups bread flour & 1 cup plain, use oil instead of butter, don't use milk powder as I found this made everything taste a bit cakey, use half the amount of sugar and use the wholemeal setting.
If I bake this using the 1 1/2 pound setting is rises to very nearly to top of the machine so I don't think it would work with the bigger loaf size recipie.

    Hi Rossy,

You can download a new copy of the instruction manual with all the recipes here

I've added your thread into the Morphy Richards thread where you'll find lots of recipes and tips for that breadmaker.

Also have a look for more bread recipes in The Complete Breadmaking Collection.

just found this thread today - spent ages reading it. I have had a MR FB machine for a few years but it currently sits redundant on top of a cupboard as I started to lose my rag with it when
    1) couldn't get the blade out of the pan to wash - stuck fast:confused:
    or
    2) blade stuck in loaf
    or
    3) pan "popped" out of place in machine leaving a half mixed/cooked loaf

not sure what i did wrong, but all these recipes and tips are getting me excited and want to resurrect the machine although will need to pop to shops to buy ingredients as i fear my yeast and bread flour that i have left will be well out of date!

    Hi Isaac's Mum
I've found that if you put a little sunflower oil on the blade and spindle before making a loaf it doesn't stick so badly. If it does still stick, you can put hot water into the pan when you've removed the loaf.
My pan has also 'popped' out once. Mine is still under guarantee so they are sending me a new pan, but I did read that it can happen if you immerse the whole pan in water for too long which loosens the mechanism. To be honest, I tend to just rinse out the inside of the pan and I now try to keep the outside as dry as possible and the problem hasn't come back since - even with the original pan.
My blade got stuck in the loaf for the first time yesterday. I don't have any suggestions about that, except that I rooted around with a small plastic spoon to get it out while the loaf was still hot. Only took a minute though and the bread still tasted yummy!
So, despite a few little hiccoughs, I'm still in love with my Fastbake!

I find that the blade gets stuck in the loaf if I try to rush it and take it out of the pan without waiting the recommended 15 minutes.

To remove the blade from the bread....take a biro pen or a pencil and stick it into the hole at the bottom of the blade, a quick wiggle and it comes out easily.

It's best to remove the blade when the bread first comes out....otherwise it's easy to forget that it's in the bread and it can easily be thrown away with the end of the bread.

Well I dragged my MR out from under the stairs last night and proceeded to make some bread! I made a basic white 1lb loaf, a 1lb wholemeal loaf in the BM and a 1lb wholemeal loaf by hand, there was no stopping me!! I panicked half way through the basic cycle as the bread didn't look very big but by the time it had done it was about only half way up the pan but it tasted lovely!! I am so glad I started making bread again!!

    Thanks for the tips everyone!

 You're supposed to wait!?!? My bread always comes out of the pan almost straight away. The paddle did get stuck in the bread on a couple of occasions, but then a tip from here said to make sure the paddle hole was cleaned really well. Now I soak it in the pan for a little while and use moist kitchen roll pulled through the hole to make sure all doughy debris is removed! Seems to have done the trick :)

  • I have the Cookworks breadmaker from Argos. I've had it about a year I think, but now its not working at all well and is not mixing the dough properly. I think its time I got a different breadmaker.

If you are looking for a new one the fastbake is on offer at the moment for £29.55 including p&p directly from Morphy Richards.

Only the panasonic rates higher amongst some Old Stylers, but at that price I'm happy to settle for second best.
