Pink, try it, I dare you :rotfl: I use it and found it fine. Didn't even need to add more yeast which I thought I would therefore outweighing saving. Must admit my faves the wholemeal but that's probably a lot more expensive. Would be healthy if I didn't eat so much of it
so lovely when it's still warm.
How does everyone keep their dried yeast by the way once it's opened? One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
I fold it over (I buy sachets) and keep it closed with a clothes peg and keep it in the fridge.

Tried sachets and the bags, put them in fridge folded but they went damp really quick, tried a tub but don't think it was airtight enough asthat went damp too. Hmm might have to invest in a tiny tub that's air tight like lock & lock or something. All mine are huge and it takes up too much fridge spaceOne day I might be more organised...........

What type of yeast do you buy? Is it more cost effective than the sachets? A small lock and lock might be the way to go.

Tesco sachet works out £11.67 a kilo. Doves farm pouch works out £7.92 per kilo. Just to compare the 2 as it's easier to check Tesco prices online. So buying bigger is cheaper, if I can get it to last! One day I might be more organised...........

Thanks so much, it has worked a treat... lovely bread once again. And much easier than the cup if I am honest..0 -

that is what I use, a lock & lock tub, does the yeast need to be kept in the fridge? I just have it in the cupboard with the flour. Will it go off quicker?0 -

Spendi, welcome, loads of info on here. I think I shall invest in lock & lock for this one. I have always kept it in the fridge after working somewhere that used yeast for a long time, sure says on the pack on the last one I got to store in fridge. If cupbords working for you can't see a problem. One day I might be more organised...........

Have had my MR FB BM for 7 months now. Am going to make the porridge oats one tonight.
Quick question though for anyone who uses the Tescos ready bread mixes (if that makes sense) I think someone said you can use these and just add water just wondered how much water you added for the different types and what setting you use it on? Also what size loaf do they make? Thanks.Mummy to two beautiful girls and one gorgeous boy.0
