Just had a look at the MR website.
Single person so would I be better getting the Stainless Steel Fastbake or the Compact Breadmaker? Only a fiver difference in the sale, but not easy to tell advantages/disadvantages.

So long as you have room, get the largest one, you can always make a small loaf in a large pan, but you can't do it the other way round.

*Bumped* because my MRFB arrived this afternoon and I haven't finished reading this thread yet! Mind you, I still don't know where I'm going to put the thing now I've got it - will have to reorganise worktops!

    Hi everyone
Have loved reading all your posts about your Fastbake machines!
After much battling with my old machine (which I've decided to get rid of because the bread wouldn't come out!) my Fastbake (ordered from MR website for £29.55) has come. I've been good and followed the 'before you make your bread' instructions and now my first loaf is in and cooking. Am very very excited.
BTW, :T for Morphy Richards - ordered Friday lunchtime, and arrived today. Very pleased so far, just hope the bread tastes nice and that it comes out of the pan ok!!
Can I join the club please?

I took delivery of my MR FB BM yesterday (The £29.55 one, ordered tuesday night - very speedy), got home, did the 10 minute thing, filled the pan with ingredients, opened the bread flour, found lots of nasties, went to pick up the kids, stopped off at co-op for more flour, got home, added the flour and yeast, started the BM, spent 3 hours packing DS for cub camp this weekend, cooking dinner, collecting DH form train station, eating, bathing DD, watching a tiny smidgeon of TV (damn, forgot to fly-lady). Then, I had some bread. It was great!!!! I started with a 1.5 which is now all gone!!! Looks like I shall have to make another one tonight. I know BM bread is cheaper per loaf, but we could end up spending a fortune because it all goes so quickly!!!

I haven't managed to read all the thread yet, but I'm looking forward to drawing inspiration from the MR FB BM vetrans :)

disaster! I think I threw my measuring cup out! (by accident) Could someone please check for me on theirs if the MR cup is the same as "normal" cups, 240ml? I have a set of these cups and I tried a loaf but it didn't come out right. I have looked in the manual but am a bit confused. Anyone got any simple solutions?
Thanks, I can't believe I chucked it out.

    Hi Esther
The MR cup is 240 ml so you should be fine.
I may not bother with the cup (especially for flour as it goes everywhere) but just weigh it out with my digital scales. (It does have to be digital scales really). (Am only on loaf 4, so may change my mind, but have weighed so far and bread has been fine). There's a table for how much a cup of each of the different flours weighs on page 20 of my manual. If your model is different to mine, you can still download that manual from the MR site so you've got the conversion tables. Here's the link.

    Hope that helps!
