I have a major problem
The bread is just TOO good, the second loaf, timed to be done for 6am this morning, is gone already!!!!!!
I need to find a much cheaper supply of flour and milk powder.0 -
i found out that iceland are selling powdered milk (marvel) at a quid a tub.... bargain????does my bum look big in this sig?0

Someone had mentioned that they kept their yeast in the freezer so I chucked the rest in there after my first GREAT loaf. However, today another loaf which is large, the other was medium, and with the freezer yeast it's not
looking very big and almost finished. Have I killed the yeast or should I have just let it come to room temp before adding it?0 -
Yeast needs to be warm to work, it was probably still hibernating!
Meanwhile I've found that HM bread, while it tastes delicious, doesn't agree with meHope it doesn't have the same effect on the rest of the family!!!!

Must admit, too much hm bread can make you a bit windy! Your body has to adjust to bread made with just yeast and not the cocktail of chemicals that commercial sliced bread has. It's just too hard to resist when you first discover the taste. Have you been using the fastbake programme? I think that uses much more yeast to get the risen result, a slower bake might give the yeast time to do all it's gassy stuff before cooking!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

After reading some of this thread I ordered a MR fastbake online yesterday. I refuse to eat shop bought bread and for many years religiously baked my own. However RSI type problems caught up with me and I did so less and less.
Having read this thread I am hopeful that with practise it can work for me. If not I can use it to do the kneading I can no longer handle. I see this as a win win situation.Target 1: Pay off Alders by July 2007(done), Target 2: Clear overdraft by end of 2007

Lucky you! I ordered mine online from Morphy Richards on Tuesday and no sign yet.. I can't wait.
Edited to say: It came half an hour after I typed this, basic loaf baking as i type, not getting any housework done, keep looking through the little window....0 -

I won't go into detail, but it's not wind
I'm sticking to the standard programme 1, I'm beginning to wonder whether it's the gluten that's causing the problem. Only eaten 4 slices out of 4 loaves, so it's not greed.
I'll wait and see if the latest loaf affects me, I used 3 parts plain white and 1 part wholemeal this time - tasted delicious!!0 -
Orded mine Tuesday......bought ingredients today.......it arrived after I got home
........ missing mixing blade and measuring cups
On the plus side, their customer service seemed very good, dispatching missing bits today.0
