 Hiya fellow home ed'er. How old is your son? (sorry slight side track but its all relevant honest ;) ) Cooking was the only thing my DS would do to start with apart from decorating. The novelty had worn off both but I've found kitchen gadgets work well as a motivational tool ..... well that and eating the finished object :D

Hi lynzpower. Yes the smell is now simply gorgeous but its sat on the side and he says I'm not allowed to touch it until it cools down :(

(another note to Chipps - I think my confidence building exercises must have gone too far :rotfl: )

Do you think cream with it (the bread that is not DS)? It smells like it wants cream ......... definately a pudding smell. Should I wait until dinner like a good person or try some now ........... I mean I do need to let you all know how it went don't I? Maybe I should taste some purely for research purposes :D

The bread is a success! Even my daughter who once learning that it had herbs in and went yuck is eating it :)

It's soft and light and very yummy...wondering if I really need another piece  Oh and it cuts well!

I put in about 570g of strong white flour (recipe said 3 1/2 cups which ended up about that), cup (well mug) of warm milk, 2 tbsp butter (I used stork), 1 tbsp sugar (had vanilla sugar as hubby had put a vanilla pod in my only sugar!), 1.5 tsp salt, 2 tsp fast bake yeast (is that what's it's called?) and about 2 tbsp of mixed herbs.

The recipe said to add an egg and some dried onion but I didn't have any of that so left it out. Then cooked on the 1lb loaf basic setting.
Fluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!

    Herb bread sounds nice :)

Was going to thank TNG for giving me an excuse to eat some chocolate & walnut bread as well but there was no thanks button  Maybe its trying to stop me as I've been on a bit of a 'thankathon' since I joined this thread.

As for the choc & walnut. Well the bad news is there is something definately strange about chocolate crusts  Other than that it was quite nice although I think it smelt better than it tasted. It definately wanted cream as it was a bit dry on its own.

Not sure when you would eat it really  I was thinking breakfast or supper snack but what would you put on it? Can't have cream for breakfast can I :o

edited to add its showing I did thank TNG now ......... oh well ..... must have been a glitch

Ooo choc sounds a bit strange!

My next task is cheese and onion bread :) And I have to make more bread tonight as I've just had two slices and it's sooooooo much more filling than shop brought bread (though I may cut down a bit on the herbs next time) and the children have had two between them...then when hubby gets home he'll have a couple then I'll have two crusts left to make sandwiches for the children tomorrow :D

Though they think it's great and want more...will be tying it down I think!

What about when it inevitably goes slighly stale making a bread & butter pudding with it

Or toasting it and spreading with clotted cream?
