you mean like when RM had a monopoly and the government took all the profits?
so why do you think companies would "go for it"?
    whats in it for them?
you realise theres already a whole raft of operators who could take over tomorrow.
    yet they dont.
    why is that,do you think?

Why would a company take over a national delivery service, gosh thats a hard one, the fact it is a national service is why.

There is isnt a single operator at present that could just take over tomorrow. They may have an infrastructure in place for parcel deliveries but not a daily postage service.

Royal mail has had it's day and can no longer cope

so they would retain a national service?
    same price regardless of distance
    6 day delivery
    remove any form of regulation?
    free reign on pricing?
why does it being a national service make it a no brainer?
  • Hi guys, been reading this thread with interest as I am experiencing similar delays. Just a quick query - do we know if the tracking is actually working? The reason I ask is that my three packages have been stuck in various places for days (one nearly a week) according to the tracking but I'm still holding out hope they will arrive any day. Has anyone who has received their packages noticed that the tracking still says the items are elsewhere? I know its probably unlikely but thats what I'm holding out hope for!
  • I heard on The One Show today that there is to be a Sunday delivery this weekend. Maybe that'll help just a little.

We used to get Sunday deliveries at Christmas, if I remember correctly, at one time.

And Royal Mail are meant to be doing evening deliveries in some locations next week (according to the Christmas postage guide I picked up at the post office today).
  • i've had deliveries for the last 2 sundays....one at 7.20am last week.......I was pleased to see my parcel but not pleased at getting out of bed at that time on my day off

I've just posted on another thread that one of my parcels was in a Royal Mail Distribution Centre for one week! The tracking was correct and Amazon despatched it promptly.
I spoke to the postman who said extra staff were in, some were working their days off and staying till 8pm.
He wasn't happy because a parcel he was waiting for was stuck in the pipeline somewhere!

I spoke to a guy from Amazon tonight, his English was appalling. It was really hard for him to understand me and me him. He said something about being able to log into my account and click a refund button from today...I looked, nothing on there yet. Has anybody seen this magical button before?

They sent me an email saying they'd refund me on Wednesday. Haven't heard back. it's a total joke. I'd like my money back before Christmas as were not all made of money and I need the cash back in my account to purchase replacements for the presents they lost in transit!
  • 4 amazon parcels were sent on different dates via RM, starting with 6th dec. Not one has arrived yet and we are in the south west of the uk. RM need to get their act together
