Amazon Delivery Delay

  • One of my friends who lives close to the Yorkshire Distribution Centre went to collect a parcel from there and was told that their parcels were stacked to the ceiling and they were going to concentrate on just delivering letters, hence why so many parcels that arrived there round the 8th are still there and won’t be touched until they get round to it. A silly way to do things at Xmas I feel, but there you go.

My problem with all this is that once Royal Mail realised they were getting such a big backlog, why not stop taking parcels and concentrating on delivering those you already have? There are a number of other carriers that bigger companies could have used rather than keep sending them through one company that can’t cope.

I don't understand this then because all my later ordered parcels are getting through and being delivered but the ones i ordered way back on the 3rd and around that time are nowhere to be seen, that being Amazon and other places.

That's what I find strange. I have received all the Amazon stuff I have ordered in the last ten days, but am still waiting for the stuff I ordered at the end of November/beginning of December. My contact with customer services is getting me nowhere. I have relatives that I will only see at Christmas so will have to buy replacements from the shops if the parcels don't arrive.

Like other people have said I don't think anyone is getting too angry on here. I just think we would like to know what is going on!

I'm still waiting for a 'guaranteed' delivery on the 14th which I have now had an email from Amazon stating that it was delivered in Liverpool at an address which they are trying now to collect. That's great as I am in Yorkshire!!
Life is a rollercoaster.....ya just gotta ride it:whistle:
  • Original parcel has just this minute arrived at hubbys work! The replacement was getting delivered to our house. Do I now have to pay postage to send the replacements back???

you should be able to return one parcel free on the grounds that it arrived late

there's a drop-down box 'Available Actions' on your order page beside the item, select 'Return Items' it'll take you to another page, where you can select your reason for return, then follow the instructions

    Hi everyone,
For those still waiting for delivery, I spoke to a helpful person on the phone in via the amazon call back service. I have been told they will refund my original order and I should order again chosing Express Delivery and they will refund the delivery charge. They followed up the call with the email below. Result!!
    Dear Miss XXX,
Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk to bring this to our attention.
I am very sorry to hear that your order # XXX did not arrive.
At this point, I can only assume that it was lost during delivery.
Therefore, I have requested a full refund to your payment card in the amount of XXX GBP. Refunds usually go through within 2 - 3 business days and we will send you confirmation when it is complete. You should see this credited to you on your next card statement. Completed refunds information can be viewed when you visit Your Account once you've received the confirmation e-mail from us.
In the Orders section, click on "Your Orders" and sign in with your e-mail address and password if requested. On the left side of the order you choose, select "View Order Details". Completed returns and refunds will appear at the bottom of the individual order's summary page.
I apologized if we couldn't process a replacement for you but in return we will be advising you to place your order to Express Delivery and we're going to process a refund for the delivery charge right after you've been charge.
If the package arrives afterwards and you do not wish to keep it, please refuse delivery of the parcel so it is returned to us by the carrier. If you have already taken delivery of the item we ask that you return it to us. (If the package arrives afterwards and you wish to keep it, let us know and we will be happy to recharge your payment card)

I think this is good service considering the amount of people who've probably had stuff lost, good job Amazon.

I use Amazon a lot and have done for years, and never had a problem. I bought an ipod for my daughter and after 3 months it broke. I contacted them and they told me they'd replace it. I got the new one the following day before i'd even sent the broken one back! I thought they would have had to wait until at least they had the original one back. This blip won't stop me from using Amazon.

Agree. I've never had a problem before. I buy stuff regularly from Amazon and had an Ipod that broke (6 months after I bought it) - got a full refund, and a faulty laptop (1 week after I bought it) again a full refund. I will usually buy electrical items from them now after this good customer service. Just a shame on the delays so many people are having just before Christmas!

  • I'm a bit miffed as I paid an extra £10 on Amazon for next day delivery only to receive my parcel 3 days later. Surely I should get a refund?
