My money saving ways

Hello there :hello:
So…payday tomorrow
£££
Managed to end this month with a positive balance of £7.33 - £2 in my purse and £5.33 in the bank. Go me. Going to transfer £5.33 to my VSP as I missed it last week (and the week before!)
ETA - oops, scrap that - gave OH £2 for bus fare and bought a book for yoga - still up by £2.52
I'm 'owed' £70 from the household a/c so technically £77.33 +ve but living with the fact that I ain't getting that back this month. Only £18 in that a/c y'see and will probably need to pay a bit more in next month too.
OH is starting to claim JSA from tomorrow :T so that'll help us out. Definitely pay for our groceries so a bit of a weight off my mind.
Flex bens
Flex benefits changed this month - gives me an extra £12 in my pay packet :rotfl: - but I am paying a bit more into my pension and still getting retail vouchers so happy with that.
Using this month's vouchers as gifts - engagement gift and new baby gift. This system is working out quite well for me because I don't really notice the money coming out of my salary but the vouchers feel like a wee pressie coming through the door every month.
Other stuff going on in Feb:
Need to keep £££ back for yoga course this month
Sort stuff for OH's bday

Personally, I always have that good old 'jam jar', which has proven useful since it does discourage me from taking money out the ATM on a night out.
My grandma's very old fashioned has those Post Office saving stamps - I think it's a great and a rather quaint!0 -

Post Office Saving stamps?! Like those savings books that people had in the 60s where you would take it, cashier would write in what's been taken out / deposited and stamp it!?
Now that is old fashioned!0 -

Hi everyone
Thanks for the payday cheer jwilI heard it!
Thanks for asking DNMSWent well yesterday. Think the interview was really just to make sure I said who I said I was, had been practising for the time I said I had etc and to make sure all the arrangements suited me - location, time commitments etc... Really looking forward to it now - main change will be that you are expected to practise from 10 to 30 mins a day, which I don't currently do. It is something I'd like to get into the habit of though so now got the perfect excuse.
Also trying to get into the habit of analysing it a bit more and the effect it has on me. Never really something I've thought about much before. All good fun though.
Trying not to spend much until 1st Feb. Most of my bills come out then so prefer that to happen before I start working out what I need to shift to where. Switched about £26 yesterday so need to remember about that too. I guess I've got some £££ being paid in following a sale on amazon so that will more or less cancel that out.
Still trying to use up some products before buying new, although not strictly sticking to not buying any new. Just aint for me that game - feel like I'm restricting myself too much so end up just splurging. Bit like when I try to have so many NSDs a month and then I rack up 10 days and then spend £60 on day 11 so it totally defeats the point. Nothing like a wee lush bath bomb to buy as a little reward for debt-busting, that's what I think.
Helping me not splash the cash is having short lunches and working late - all the shops in this city close ridiculously early, but that's a good thing when you don't want to spend0 -
I think you're right about the NSDs - I started off quite well this month, but then found that if I had a day when I had to spend something I thought I may as well buy other stuff that day, so as not to ruin an NSD another day? (Read books and cds, clothes for girls into these extra things:o). So think I'll give up on counting NSDs and just concentrate more on spending sensibly:DI really need to sort out a new signature!0

That is exactly what I was like!! Really bad. "Oh look I've had to buy a 30p roll to have with my soup...may as well go spend £60 at the Lancome counter..."0
