Thanks for the thread cake- I've been waiting to join in.
Aiming for an incredibly stretching £36 000. This will be going into offset rather than being OP. Very scary seeing it written down, especially with a wedding to pay for! Will need lots of jollying along I think!

Thanks cake21 for running the 2011 challenge, it is greatly appreciated.
Just read in another thread that it was 2 pages long already.

How do you manage to plan time in for running this in the middle of the Christmas season?

No. 19 re-enrolling for next year.

Although I exceeded my target last year (£10,000) and we are currently saving £1300 a month, I have decided to set an overpayment target this year of £11,000 and get the mortgage down to £46,000.

This is partly due to OH's current job being temporary (currently applying for permanent positions within the company) and we don't know what the latter part of next year holds.
We will still save as much as we can whilst he is in work, so I think that £11,000 is the right target to set as it will keep us on track with the MFiT-T2 challenge.

As soon as he get news (positive we hope) on the applications he has recently made in the new year and if he gets a permanent position, I can revise the target and make it more stretching.

It's good to see so many 2010 MFW returning.

  • Hello there, and I'd like to join in the challenge for 2011. I've filled in the form (perhaps wrongly :o) and would like to overpay our maximum amount which is £19K . Our mortgage will be at about £190K (awaiting the annual update). We are due to remortgage in Feb 2012 so next year is our year to blast it down.

    Good luck to everyone!
    Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
    OPs 2011-2016 = £45K 2017 OPs = £9250.20

So far not too bad, it's very easy when people tell me their MFW number :T
