Decided to hold off the payments for a few months and accumulate some savings for a rainy day (that I of course hope never comes!)

ps. is anyone else with Cheltenham and Gloucester? I find it so frustrating that you can't check your mortgage balance online, your payment amounts, your interest rate or anything else without calling them, ahh! For example my mortgage rate is supposed to drop, but I have no idea if it's this year or next, but again there's no way to find out without being in a lengthy queue process.

BlizeH, yep, I'm with them, it is a pain that you can't do it on the internet. Especially in this age now where everything is done on the internet. Mind you if it was I would be on it every 10 minutes checking it.

I've mentioned it to them when I've rang up but they've been saying the same for about 2/3 years now, that they are looking into it.

Thanks Malski, it's a shame because their website actually looks very nice and modern, I never thought for a second you couldn't deal with your mortgage on the website! It's almost (ALMOST!) enough for me to consider a switch, or at least I would if there wouldn't be a hefty fee attached...
  • have a cracked cistern and forgot that my house ins is due next month
may not be able to overpay until March after all my calculations
I'll see if I can do another £20, for what it's worth...
    oh well, here's to March!

Maybe hold off with the overpayment until the insurance is paid, and see how it goes from there? :)
  • No 72. checking in.

Made a OP of £118.19 last night, which not only was my first ever OP, but exceeds January's target of £100.

Just because I've reached January's target doesn't mean I'm stopping though. And got a email from National-Lottery this morning.....£10 :rotfl:bet you all though it would be a massive one, but all the same, on the mortgage it goes as soon as it hits my bank account.

In 2011, I want to aim for £1500 again. And have already deposited my OP of £100 for January!!

Feels great to be dealing with my debts, rather than sinking into depression.

  • Ok made my minimum payment of £5 this month. Going to have a few months where my overpayments are minimal & serve purely as a reminder for me to catchup later in the year. Only 3 months until our holiday to the US and I need to get saving fast so the mortgage overpayments will have to stay on the sidelines until April.

Well done everyone on your overpayments so far.
  • I've filled in the form for this year. Did 2009, forgot to join the 2010 thread:D but didn't forget the overpayments:D

I'm taking a steady approach - have overpaid £100 a month since January 2009 and will continue exactly that in 2011:D

    Good luck to all:beer:
