    Apologies in advance...

I'm not sure how much internet access or time I'm going to have from now until at least the end of January, so I'm going to leave you in the capable hands of, well, yourselves :p

I believe I may be number 221 on the list, but please feel free to correct me on that one!

    Hi

I'm new to this forum but thought I would join as I intend to shed as much off my mortgage as possible this year.

I bought my house in 2004 with a £108k interest only mortgage. I originally had a tracker mortgage but after 4 years I saved the arrangement fees and went on to SVR so am at 2% at the moment which is great!

I have been steadily paying off the capital and the mortgage stood at £87k at the start of 2011.

I would LOVE to get this down to £70k by the end of 2011 but think this may be unachievable so is my stretch target. My more realistic aim is £75k but it's good to push yourself eh!?

I have already paid £3k off in January :j from savings accrued last year so I'm off to a good start.

Also whilst I am very determined to pay this debt off I can become a bit obsessed by it all so must also remember that life is for living and this is not a dress rehearsal so please remind me of that if I start obsessing!?

Anyway good luck everybody, I look forward to seeing our challenges unfold.

    Hi all,

I would like to join if I may, have filled in the form. My aim is to reduce mortgage/ up offset by £60,000. And not be tempted by new things for the house :D

Don't we get a substitute teacher what can keep us out of trouble :D

Well i'm sad this month :( i'm not going to be able to make an overpayment - i have an irrational sadness about this and i'm itching for it to be February so that i can see my overpayment go through!!

My OH has a new job and has two weeks unpaid leave between his finish date for old job and start for new so i have to foot the bills on me own this month. Too scared to put an overpayment onto the mortgage just incase we need the money for an emergency. Long term he will be getting a £3K payrise though so i'll be snaffling as much of that as i can :rotfl:

Good luck and well done to everyone who's managed to overpay this month. I'll be joining you next month for sure.

  • Hey Shalamoo
I've only just joined mfw and only able to pay off £20 this month because of Christmas spends, so you' re not alone!
I too can't wait until Feb to actually make a proper OP.
Good luck to hubby with the new job.
    Here's to Feb's payment
