    Rolls sleeves up…

As I’ve subscribed to this 2011 MFW challenge and I’ve yet to set an objective, I better get one in ASAP, considering I made an overpayment today!

I suspect I’m like many others in that you have a year end mortgage value you would like to attain and plan overpayments accordingly. But, I’m finding 2011 very difficult to plan. <snip>

All my targets assume that there won't be any interest rate rises...is anyone else factoring these in?

My aim if I do think about it is that any interest rises will just jolly well have to be compensated for by being more frugal, but then I think maybe I should be more frugal now then if it is possible, but then I think oh but I want to enjoy my payrise! :o Am I overthinking? Cheating? Other??

I don't know enough to say anything interesting, but I'll bi-lingual my posts so you can also see how limited my expressions are :o:rotfl:

As some one who is sadly uni-lingual, I think you are fab. Keep up the good work. The only welsh I know is 'araf' (slow) 'cause they paint it all over the roads ;)

    ?

Yes but I really am quite @n@l. I have a mortgage spreadsheet which is both a record and a forecast. I've slipped in some interest rate increases into the next few years - gradual rises until the BOE hits around 8%. but it's all really wild guess work and hoping that any rises will be lower and later than my forecast. My mortgage is now only £36k so there is less of an impact for me - but still wanted to build it in to my plan

Dim 'to, mae rhaid bod eich mortgage provider yn gallu rhoi y sort code ac rhif account i chi. Roedd y Cooperative yn gorfod gwneud yr un peth gyda fi, ac nawr dw i'n gallu talu ar-lein :j
[Not yet, your mortgage provider should be able to give you the sort code and account number. The Cooperative had to the same thing with me and now I can pay online :j]

Mortgage provider. Cooperative. Oooohhhh, that's 3 Welsh words I've learnt already, maybe I'd be a natural ;).

I'm factoring them in, but in a 'I know they will happen but I refuse to think about it till I'm forced to' way :o.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

Sorry cake, didn't realise I was already on the list at number 205 so resubmitted!

£1,000 paid today - nice way to kick start the new year! My first payment in a few months but hopefully can start overpaying regular/smaller amounts from now on... house is all 100% sorted now, so I shouldn't need to spend any more big amounts on furnishings or electricals etc :D

Oh dear, I am cheating. My spreadsheet is also both a record and a forecast but I'm not forecasting any increases because I didn't like the way my MFD got further way... :o 8% doesn't seem outlandish to me. Luckily (luck because my current provider would let me switch and no-one else wanted my negative equity :p) I'm on a capped tracker so BOE rate increases will only affect me up to 2.5%. Fingers and toes crossed I am really really hoping to be MF by the time the product runs out - that's the first time I've told anyone that!

curlygirl (still see green curls and smile when I see you :D)

On the savings front....Can you associate the two balances in your own spreadsheet for that reducing balance feeling..?

Only when my hair colour goes wrong :D Wierdly you are a very pretty slab of pale pink sponge cake with white icing when I see you.

Okay - so Mortgage Spreadsheet now also shows Savings balance and then net adjustment as a fake kind of offset. Not sure it's had the desired effect as now I'm gazing at it thinking 'My Savings aren't enoughhhhhhhhh' (in a whiney voice). Some people are NEVER happy

But thanks for the suggestions (What's Welsh for Thank-you?)
