My first was born in January 2003

According to the bullet points on the entitlements agency site I'm due £1048...

Obviously I've no intention of letting them do the paperwork and claiming £94+VAT for nothing.

However.... I've downloaded the 11CTC form and on there it states that the child should be aged 16 or under at the beginning of the tax year for which I'm claiming. To my mind then to claim for 2002/2003 surely my child would have to have been born before 5th April 2002???

Anyone claimed successfully with a child born after 5th April 2002 and if so how did you fill the form in?

    cheers.

    pink.
  • I rang the Inland revenue on 0845 302 1478 (hold on the line for the last option) they said if i was working between 2001-2002 with children born after April 86, i could complete for 11CTC (down loadable from the first post above) They will then check if the tax code paid was correct, if not i would get a refund.

Time is running out as your claim must be in by the end of the month. Please only use the official HMRC form from here ...

    http://search2.hmrc.gov.uk/kbroker/hmrc/forms/viewform.jsp?formId=3282

If you use an outside agency to claim this money for you not only will they charge you £94 plis VAT but they will also take any interest due to you from HMRC and will also then hold a mandate to deal with ALL your tax details with HMRC.
  • Sent mine off today (recorded delivery) to prove it was sent & before deadline. Hopefully I will get it & it will help nicely towards my kids first summer/foreign holiday.

I found out about this today. I phoned my local tax office and was advised to complete form 11CTC. I was told forms should be returned to the local tax office. He said that because they'd had a huge amount of calls this week, it's likely that all claims will be sent on to Leeds by the local offices, where they will be dealt with centrally.

Due to the volume of claims, because the closing date is at the end of this month, he said it's likely to take a few months before i recieve a refund.

Considering i didnt even know about it this time yesterday, i dont mind the fact that i may have to wait a few months!

I believe your eligible if you can answer yes to all the following questions:
Your child was born between 6/4/86 & 5/4/03
Your child lived with you in 2002/2003
    You paid tax in 2002/2003
Your earnings were over £6k in 2002/2003

Not sure if we got it or not, cant find O/H P60 from 2003 with final tax code. But we have 4 children born Feb 86 (wont qualify), Dec 87, June 91 & Aug 94, all of whom where living with us. Should I just D/L the form and send it off to the Leeds Office or my Local office?

    EDIT
Is the allowance per child or total? Just read accompanying info and its for 1 child only.

    Send it to Leeds.

    It's one amount per family.

Tell your husband to call his employers tax office to check if it's been claimed before you send the form.
  • By my calculations you are only entitled to any CTC if your main income is less than approx £42,500. There is a calculation buried on the HMRC website here :-
