Where are the other threads? I really want to vent some anger about this but most of my friends are Scottish and feeling smug because there aren't any in Scotland (yet). I am not even a student but just outraged by this and concerned for my children and what it will mean for them.

Why are more people not outraged by this? Total assault on working classes.

    do you feel the anger?

Most of us don't feel the anger because of the facts.

Please give a good reason why "working classes" would lose out?

They should pay for their "higher" education. They get 12 years free as it is

Maybe it'll stop students pi$$ing their student loans down the pub/clubs and actually use it to fund their education.

Why should my taxes pay for it?

I'm glad this government is making a stance. And yes i do have a child and if they choose to go uni then they can get a job and pay for it.

Not everything is free and handed on a platter

I keep hearing about how the working classes are going to lose out big time. I've read and re read the proposals and nowhere can I see where this will be the case. Would somebody kindly explain?

    Rubbish.

As long as it doesn't effect you right?

Students should boycott uni in 2012. Uni staff will lose their jobs and some unis would go bust.

The 'facts' are, my friend, is that the government is throwing huge debt on students trying to better themselves.

Billions is alright though for the banks...

From £1250 to £9000 overall is a mockery.

Saying its fine they dont pay nothing back till they earn 21k is a joke.

And don't come it with it's not a right with Cameron going to Eton and all. :rotfl:The one driving the policy.

No your right it doesn't affect me directly. I had no care for uni when i had the oppertunity.

My firends however did attend uni, the amount of "student loan money" they spunked down the pubs/clubs was rediculous.

Maybe putting towards this supposed higher education would actually be a good thing

and i doubt people would care if people boycotted uni - it's not the end of the world is it. Your still not guaranteed a gold plated job that they all seem to think they're entitled to anyway

Currently, taxes go towards subsidising students university education even though it is a choice.

Choices need to be paid for by the people, not by others.

You want the choice to drive, you pay for a car.
You want the choice for a house, you buy a house.
You want the choice for a boob job, you pay for it.

The fact is, with this, the taxes will no longer subsidise those that do go to university, making it exceptionally fair on those that do not go to university.

University isn't the only option out there to "better yourself".
